Kawhorey wuztotallyrobbed! :lynch:

Yes, she's got her carriage issues, but Bradie's are way worse.
First i don't see too much of "carriage issues" in both. Bradie's is less noticable imo, because she does not pretend to be "fluid and lyrical", she does power moves, with more abstract forms, which suit her and make it "her style". Kaori is not a "lyrical" type, in built, and in "physical abilities" (not very flexible, and not very balletic in her arms), yet she chose "lyrical" this season, and the oddness is more noticeable.

Last year's "Amelie" suited her so much better, because she did not need to move like a "ballerina" and it gave her more freedom to create forms and shapes without specific expectations..

I don't think Sakomoto is better than Bradie in tech or goe... imo: neither one is "classic ballerina/lyrical type", and that style does not look good for them (judging by previous programmes). the diff is: Bradie gets it, and not trying to be one. Sakomoto (as lovely as she is) is trying to be "lyrical/classic" and the mismatch in style is too obvious to me.
That’s exactly why I love Kaori’s SP - she’s not classical/ballet but wood nymph dancing in the forest, without steps or rules or conventions. It’s utterly different than Bradie’s angular edginess. Both programs match the skaters well but for me Kaori is just so pleasing.

I don't see a "nymph" possibilities for Kaori.... (Excluding "hippies on acid" and "sex-show" concepts of "nymph").

She is not balletic/classic enough for Walpurgisnacht Nymphs..

and not "edgy/playful/unleashed" enough for the Wood-nymphs...

Her moves have lightness and "naivete" , and that's why i feel music/theme like "Amelie" was perfect for her. I can see her as a young lady "chasing butterflies in the field" or "running on a beach, pulling a kite"..

If you really, really have to see her as a "nymph"..... with a struggle, i can see "Isadora Duncan-ish style"....

Just popping in to say I really enjoyed Bradie's SP. It has a strong identity, is a little different to what the other ladies are doing, has energy full out and she commits to the performance. Good for her.

I think though most of us understand WHY Kihara still placed relatively high, some of us will say this is why the ISU should bring back major deductions for failure to do required elements in the SP at least.
I think failure to do a required element (including a << on a required jump) should get a 1.00 deduction like a fall. Popping an axel to a single or doing a 2/2 instead of a 3/2 because you pop or do it on purpose because you don’t have the triple, I don’t care what the reason is. The short is a tech program and I would rather have skaters pull into triples, rotate, and fall, than pop and double just to stay upright.

OK, I sat down tonight to watch the replay of this thing. And have to admit, Bradie skated with command and conviction. She really believes in this program. I will imagine her with a short haircut and a bodysuit instead of her actual dress and hairdo that I cannot stand.

This is my idea of edgy and angular and pure badass. Last year 2nd place winner at the Prix de Lausanne https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7xfJIlKWpc

Kaori isn't a lyrical skater but neither is she an awkward or laborious skater like say, Zag. Kaori has power and grace but this music doesn't work IMO. She doesn't have the super long limbs of Kostner or Cui but there are ways to make them look longer by really extending and stretching. Properly packaged she could really shine. She has good raw material.

So bummed about Rika. But better here than at Worlds.

I got to watch this on live tv at a bar last night. And I cringed when Rika popped her axel again.

It’s becoming a pattern with her. At worlds I’m wondering if she should just save the triple axels for the FS at worlds?

Loved Sakamoto and would have had her first!

With a total pop, she loses only ~4 points in the sp (since she's doing it in place of the required 2axel, not another triple), which can be made up pretty readily in the lp with her content. In contrast, if she lands it, she can gain ~6 pts over well executed 2axel programs. Since it's clear she really does have the jump, I think it's worth the risk.

FWIW, Bradie broke her back twice. I can’t even believe she skates.
In USA? a 20-year old after puberty? without quads and 3A? not in Eteri's group?..... that can't be....
Still skating? not eating 3 hamburgers a day and tweeting doomsday? winning Nationals and medals?.... impossible!

GO BRADIE!...:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

the lyrics are: "If you're good to mama, mama's good to you". she is a jailer, oversees the prisoners. she means "have your relatives or friends bring money/goods/services to my home/family and i'll treat you special and protect you while you're in my jurisdiction" or "i'll buy you smokes/drinks/snack, you give me 20 dollars, and get 10 dollar's worth, or you get nothing". that's how it works. it's not about sex.
Carol Brady explains it well enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYOCPWfCpqY
