Not a fan. Are they all serrated so they feel rough to the touch?
Don't like.
They seem like less aesthetic versions of what Vancouver did.

I saw some good in Vancouver medals. At least they were interesting.

Not liking the current ones at all.... Maybe it's the proportions, maybe it's the lack of some kind of borders, maybe the ridges should be more defined and the rings to stand out more, or the color of the ribbon changed from light blue... in all, reminds me of a dog-tag, or an old military medal, or an industrial component....

Zzzzzz!
In comparison to all the pics, IMO, Vancouver's were the best of the bunch by far.
Think these ones are just plain boring.

I like that the Winter Olympics is like the rebellious sibling who changes its design to reflect the aesthetics of the host city/country while the Summer Olympics are the same no matter who hosts it. I don't know, but I think it's cool.

I think they are a nice classic design. A step down from what Sochi did but better than Vancouver (not a hard job.)

I like the classic medal designs of the round heavy metals with the thick ribbons. Sochi and Nagano were my favorite. Sarajevo was the worst. I wish they'd show someone wearing them.

I love the Vancouver medals, they're beautiful! You don't have to read a label, the design alone says Canada. And the idea that each medal is unique but they all come together to make a unified pattern is fabulous symbolism - that's what the Olympics is supposed to represent.

I get that Vancouver would be polarizing because they weren't flat but to me it lent interest since the face was more plain than a lot of the past medals. The 'each medal being unique' concept was fascinating to me.

But these medals are just a disk with a very rough surface. I mean I wouldn't even want to touch them. Perhaps they started with an interesting idea but somehow the execution missed the mark.

Actually they are somewhat copying London 2012 Summer Olympics. But 2012 medals have more design and texture, and look better and have better color for ribbons.

Are you saying Vancouver was copying London or are you saying Pyeongchang was copying London? Vancouver couldn't have copied London since it took place two years before, right?

Here's an article with some quotes from the designer of the Pyeongchang medals, award-winning industrial designer Lee Suk-woo:

Pyeongchang medals... "somewhat copying" 2012 London.

I can see the designer is "industrial"....

I think the low-quality ribbon is cheapening the look - I hope they have different ribbons for the actual games. The design is pretty safe but nice.

ETA: @Melissa hadn't seen you liked the ribbon lol - just shows how subjective it all is!

Not as pretty as Vancouver or even Sochi, but certainly preferable to the Torino donuts and the aggressively ugly London 2012 logo that made everything it came in contact with less appealing.
