Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir #48: Long Time Running

pani - I think it was Tessa and Scott's own decision to not take part in Stars on Ice to attract a bigger audience to their own tour and/or because they will simply be too busy planning for it. I don't believe they were not invited. I think the organizers of SOI realize that they are the biggest...

Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir #48: Long Time Running

They would probably have to invite a few foreign skaters which, of course, would be both more expensive and difficult in the time of the GP season - most likely they would be able to get only retired skaters or those "taking a break". Otherwise they would have to make do only with those Canadian...

    The Unbeatables (?)

giselle23 - I agree with you at least partially. But the fact still stands that Hanyu's FS record in the old scoring "system" attained with 4 quads remained unbeaten despite Chen executing practically clean FS performances with 6 quads at last year's Olympics and Worlds. Of course, Chen had a...

    The Unbeatables (?)

No need to call people (I really don't know whether your comment was about me, or someone else) Hanyubots for saying things that are supported by evidence, like PCS and GOE given to Hanyu for cleanish skates and clean elements. It's just being realistic. I personally have never been anyone's...

Madison Chock & Evan Bates Hopes, Fears & Cheers!

Yes, I saw that on Instagram :D. Of course, when the first surprise and shock wore off, they became elated :). Just the first reaction seemed a bit different. But I am really glad that they did not let that impact them too much.

Madison Chock & Evan Bates Hopes, Fears & Cheers!

I was not comparing their scores or mistakes to other competitions, just looking at what they got here, and what they could have gotten without those mistakes. So, with a level 4 spin they would have gotten 7 to 7.5 points more - that's 126.71 or 127.21 points in the FD in total. Of course...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Well, G/P got higher PCS than C/B, although not by a lot, but C/B clearly had a lot of really well executed elements, so the levels and GOE were there. I disagree with this, though. I personally truly like both FDs - each in it's own way. Some may not like the style of C/B's FD (obviously...

Madison Chock & Evan Bates Hopes, Fears & Cheers!

Probably they would have won the TES, but not the FD. H/D lost 6.30 points in base value on the lift and spin, but you did not take into consideration the lost GOE on the lift. I think they would have won the FD just by a bit, though - maybe tenths or even hundredths of a mark. But, if Hubbell's...

Can't Help Falling In Love ... with Hubbell & Donohue (fan thread #2)

lmarie086 - I thought he traveled quite noticeably. They also lost two levels on the spin again - that's 2 points right there. Something is not right with it, although it looks well executed on the surface. I hope they understand what it is.

    The Unbeatables (?)

Read your own original post  ;). You were talking about a "clean or almost clean performance". A clean or close to clean performance by Hanyu would definitely beat a clean performance by Chen even with 3 quads vs. 4 quads (don't think Chen will have 5 at Worlds).

These jumps aren't under review: The Bradie Tennell Cheer Thread!

Congratulations! Not really a fan of Bradie, but the skate was technically great, everything was on point, and the style is right for her. Overall a deserved first place in the SP, although it could have been Kaori's just as well. Wishing good luck in the FS.

Mariah Bell cheer thread: Rise Up

I am actually not a great fan of Mariah, although I like her, nor am I a fan if this kind of music, but I like this SP because of the way how she obviously feels and enjoys skating it it, and this time she performed it with even more feeling than usual - especially towards the end. The step...

    Papadakis/Cizeron #8 - Oh Lover Hold On

I agree with Miloune, though. Also, Stephane speaks English quite well. Actually it's his third or even second language. He said he learned German only when he started to train in summer camps in Oberstdorf, not because he is from Switzerland where it's one of the official languages. So perhaps...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

RoseRed - Yes, of course, you are right. Sometimes it's easy to get confused in those threads if one doesn't have time to read everything.

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Where would you put the two Russians - S/K and S/B? And G/F? Below all of those teams, including G/P? G/P tend to do better at Worlds than during the rest of the season, still, I personally don't think that they are guaranteed to finish higher than both Russians and even G/F. Edit: Sorry, I...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Yes, but Gilles/Poirier's FD win was also because of Weaver/Poje's level 2 spin. It would have been very close, though. With the same levels in the RD and a level 4 spin for W/P in their FD, they would have been even closer, but W/P would still have won. Look at their RD - it is/has been much...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

casken - I actually agree. What I wrote was imprecise. I think W/P could challenge P/C in the RD only if they had higher levels and if P/C would make a bigger mistake or at least would have several smaller glitches.

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Lara111 - I don't think so. Not that I think they absolutely shouldn't, but they simply won't be allowed to. It will be a wonder if they manage to pass Hubbell/Donohue with it. If they (W/P) skate like this at 4CC, then we will see if it's doable. With how things have been going, we can't count...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Even though Virtue/Moir have been my favorite dance team for a long time, I also like/liked both W/P and G/P (liked P/I too, but found them a bit bland in some of their programs - never thought they had what V/M have), P/C and D/W (😲), H/D, Shibutanis and, this season, C/B. And, yes, I like both...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

What do you have against their RD? The only thing I can imagine is the music choice (Libertango is really, really overused). But that alone can't make a program bad. Not objectively (although perhaps this is the answer 😁).
