    Gracie Gold set to return

ehhhh, somewhat. You have to be either extremely narrow to rotate quickly or if you have a less petite or sinewy body type you have to be athletic as all get out, with tons of core and other strength to crank. Skating is the same, as is gymnastics, I believe. You can be successful with varying...

    Vaytsekhovskaya's interview with Trankov

<<MT: There is a team, where a guy quite often lands the jumps on two feet. And he always gets +2. It’s a mystery for me: how can you double foot a jump and get a positive GOE? And quite a well positive. >> I have often thought this about Marinaro. I wonder if that's who he means.....?

    Gracie Gold set to return

Agree. Nationals is a ton of pressure and a media circus. Given where she is now, I can't see her being much more ready in two months (physically, never mind the mental challenge of that environment) unless she does some dysfunctional things, which of course would not be recommended. Based on...

2018-2019 Canadian Ladies News and Updates!

She told TSL very clearly her intention was to compete for the 3rd ladies singles spot in Korea. She even informed Skate Canada. While touring in the spring of 2017 she worked on 3F to get rid of edge call (Gabby helped her) and KO taught her level 4 spins. She had her jump layouts figured out...

What I think she has earned is the right to construct her life however she wants to pursue whatever challenges inspire her. She no longer has to worry about competitive outcomes because she has proven herself that way many times.

2018-2019 Canadian Ladies News and Updates!

Possibly. Assuming the TYCT had open spots where she could attend the qualifying comps it's still pretty tough. Yes, she could probably qualify for nationals by short-forming it but her goal would be to be at or near her peak at that event, not knowing where the bar would be when you're...

    Gracie Gold set to return

I hope Gracie is in a position to just embrace the challenge and be satisfied with her journey and efforts and less about the results at this point. Two things stuck out in all the prior notes in this thread: 1. The comments from Jeremy that others have forced her to be tech based when there...

2018-2019 Canadian Ladies News and Updates!

There would have been a realistic chance Meagan would go for it this year if she could have fit full training and qualification process into her schedule. Small chance she'd think about it next year, but with only 2 spots or maybe 1, it wouldn't be worth it in light of her other opportunities...

Canadian Pairs 2018/2019 Season News and Updates

How far apart are Sectionals and Golden Spin? Maybe B/B bypassed sectionals to train for Golden Spin, their priority. I assume senior pairs don't need to qualify for nationals...they can just 'enter' #comeonecomeall

Great for Stephen that he gets to do Vancouver 2.0. I'm sure he'd like to replace his last performance there. I don't see a need to change the short or long. He's been skating the short for two years and I'm sure is comfortable with it by now. The issues in Vancouver JGP to me are likely more a...

ISU Grand Prix Assignments 2018/19 season

I'm sure this has been discussed in 100 places but I don't follow dance so much, so I'm not up to date. So, many apologies for being the 101st asking this: What's wrong with Chock and Bates?

ISU Grand Prix Assignments 2018/19 season

Ah. So we have the Wakaba story. At SCI she just didn't look to be in shape or trained, not to mention happy. Took away from her totally fun SP that I want to see skated to its full potential at some point this season. It was mostly clean but her head didn't seem to be in it. Get better!

ISU Grand Prix Assignments 2018/19 season

S/K are definitely making a move this year in the eyes of the judges. Having said that, until proven otherwise, they remain susceptible to some random error(s). I still categorize them as fairly wild in their skating. Lots can happen to help elevate G/P. As for their next event, we'll also see...

UPDATED: Jason Brown to Brian Orser (official)

In my limited ability to diagnose I assumed this was the problem, too. I think it's the lutz and flip where you really see it. He often times doesn't start rotating until he's near the apex of his air position. As with Medvedeva, the improvments Jason needs are major. My belief is that the REAL...

UPDATED: Jason Brown to Brian Orser (official)

One benefit of doing the salchow is that you don't run into all kinds of re-organizing if you do a triple or double by mistake. If you do that with the toe, you have two 3Ts and other 2Ts in the program you have to then adjust. Looks like his elements for the long are setting up to give him two...
