An exquisite performance given on his terms. I am so happy the judges fully appreciated and rewarded what he put out there. I love Jason so much and have for so many years. Imagining the competitive landscape without him just doesn't feel right and I'll miss his skating so much (if he is indeed retiring), but I'm sure he'll continue to give all in that indomitable Jason way which ever way he chooses to go next. ❤️❤️❤️

(And I can't resist - just one doubled salchow out of 4th, in such a field).

He was magnificent. If this was his last time competing, he will be much missed, but what a lovely way to end his career, with such a moving performance.
It's times like this that I miss the American pro skating era. We got to see post-Olympic careers and enjoy the skating of not just Olympic gold medalists, but also of popular skaters like Paul Wylie and Kurt Browning. I wish we could see something similar for skaters like Jason. A skater like him doesn't need the most difficult jumps to have gorgeous programs.

It was so great seeing him with such a great performance on Olympic ice in his last outing. I do think Jason shows all that is wrong with the current scoring system. A skater of his caliber and quality can't be competitive for medals just due to not being able to do enough quad jumps. A skater like him retiring without a world medal just seems wrong, even if he doesn't have many quads.

Jason teaches Craig Melvin from the Today Show how to skate (includes video which may be geo blocked)

TODAY’s Craig Melvin takes to the ice with Team USA figure skater Jason Brown in the hopes of honing the graceful skills he’s witnessed during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. While Craig might not be able to qualify for the 2026 Games in Italy, Brown has proved that he has what it takes to become a successful coach in the future.

Rohene recently filmed his 40-min. session in Chicago with Jason (reworking "Sinnerman" for Stars on Ice): https://www.instagram.com/tv/CbN7Hhtpvw0/

Jason doesn't appear in the frame all that much but it was cool to hear that -- at around 15:00 -- they watched this video of Robin Cousins' "The Imposssible Dream" for some inspiration :): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTU5Ust0lCg

Jason & Rohene appeared at a pop up event in Wilmette, Illinois this past Sunday and did a meet & greet: https://www.instagram.com/p/CbWBZ-ArBQW/

ETA:

Turns out “The Impossible Dream” WILL be a new exhibition program for Jason! 1-minute clip from Rohene’s IG just now: https://www.instagram.com/p/CbaqhpwtzS7/

This article showed up on my twitter feed:

How Watching Men's Figure Skating Helped Me Fall Back in Love with Writing

It's an example of the impact Jason's skating has on people beyond the world of figure skating.

Excerpt:

The program was gorgeous, yes. He was an incredible skater. But what moved me to tears was the fact that he came to the competition and gave it everything, knowing that he would likely not win. Here was a man who came to perform because he loved it, because it brought him joy, quads and medals be damned. He was making a statement with his performance: no matter what happened, he would always have this.

Jason is going to be performing in Fantasy on Ice in Japan this summer. He's going to be doing the Kobe (June 17-19) and Shizuoka (June 24-26) shows:

ETA: Jason's tweet

Google translate:

I found good quality fan cam videos of the final four numbers of the Newark, NJ show last Friday (4/22) on this one YT account:
Jason Brown's "Sinnerman" (incredible performance to experience live!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkpJys6a7wE
...
Same person also shared 2 shorter videos from the show:
Jason's "I Lived" (clips incl. 3 cartwheels & 3 split jumps): https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ccs-ZbegK_Y/

Saw him live at the Orlando SOI and he just blew me away. I said in the SOI thread that no skater has as much complete control over his body and I saw it for myself. Sinnerman was incredible. He truly skates with everything he has. As they say, a skater's skater.

Jason helped pronote the Thursday 5/26 Boise, Idaho SOI show when he was in Grand Rapids, MI earlier this month: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HREM_JkimnE

Excerpt from the end of this Washington Spokesman-Review article by Carolyn Lamberson (May 22) ahead of the Spokane SOI show this Friday:
And while there has been some speculation that Brown, now 27, will soon retire from competitive skating, he is not thinking about it at this point.
He knows he will continue working toward a college degree – he’s a junior at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs – he also plans to stay on the ice.
“Right now, I’m in that mode where I’m going month to month. Obviously, I’ve always planned out four years in advance and looked toward those next steps,” he said. “For now, it’s thinking about being open to various different opportunities and options, but planning things as they come. For now, I have through the summer mapped out, doing a bunch of different shows, continuing to perform and really loving getting to do that. I’m going to do a couple of tours in Japan, and that’s really the main thing.”
“It’s a great question,” he added. “But maybe ask me in a couple months.”
ETA that Jason has been invited to a 3rd show in Japan :) - "Friends on Ice" (6 performances) at the Shin-Yokohama Skate Center rink, August 26-28, 2022: https://www.friendsonice.com/
Current list: "Shizuka Arakawa, Shoma Uno, Takeshi Honda, Akiko Suzuki, Miki Ando, Satoko Miyahara, Stephane Lambiel, Jeremy Abbott, Jason Brown and others"

Jason's recent Zoom interview with Metrosource ("one of the leading LGBTQ publications since 1990"):
"I would do DWTS in a heartbeat – 100 percent! Let’s definitely put that out there."

A thread for the show was created today in GSD:

Jason's Instagram stories these past few days have shown him doing a LOT of fun things in NYC, including a photo shoot with SELF magazine, attending Broadway shows (1st one was Funny Girl & 2nd was Company), skating at Chelsea Piers with OIP's Jordan Cowan filming him, visiting Levain Bakery. :) ETA his June 5th post with photos: https://www.instagram.com/p/CebsYlpOmz9/
