Just watched "Zero Chill" on Netflix ....OMG, that has to be THE WORST skating show I have ever seen. And I watched it through till the end

It's no wonder it's not getting a second season, lol ... I seriously can't find anything good to say about it, that's like literally 8 hours of my life I'll never get back
 I also watched all of it - and also have nothing good to say. It made Spinning Out look like Oscar material.

The minute I saw the part Canadians moving to the UK to play hockey, I wondered whether the writers knew anything about sports.

We just started watching Get Back on Disney+, Peter Jackson's Beatles documentary of the Let It Be sessions. There's no narration on this, you're just a fly on the wall watching the band create. Sometimes there are captions and often there are not. I like it and will probably watch the remaining 7 hours, even though it's slow going. I look forward to seeing more aspects of their personalities come through.

Watched the first episode of Succession and decided it wasn't for us.

We’re on episode 3 of Get Back. It’s weird because arguably the pace is slow and not much happens, but, I am loving this documentary. Just getting glimpses of the individual personalities and their creative process, it’s amazing. (I’ve always been a big Beatles fan.) also, I must say, I can’t look away from the young and fabulous Paul. 😆

I have a musician friend who was absolutely blown away by this show. It's on my list to watch as soon as I have a chance.

RE Get Back, I'm just watching this as a casual fan. I wish I had more knowledge of what to look for. I can see where intense fans of the band or serious musicians would have a field day with this.

Been binge watching Real Detective and this show is hard to watch! Really felt like I was sucker punched after watching episode 2x1. Highly recommended this show if you’re into true crime.

Why wasn’t the sister charged with something?

It took me a year but I’ve finally watched season 3 of Aggretsuko on Netflix and it’s honestly probably the best thing I’ve seen all year with Pen15 second. For a Sanrio cartoon, it has probably the deepest insight into modern day working life of single twenty-somethings just making a living and trying to figure things out as time seems to move faster as we age. Season 4 is coming on the 16th.

I loved Get Back. Harrison has always been my favorite, but I now like all of them more (and their team). I do not think Yoko "broke up the Beatles". It seemed all of them except McCartney were ready to move onto other projects.

I watched a few mountain climbing documentaries on Netflix. 14 Peaks:Nothing Is Impossible. I thought this was rushed. The subject of the movie, Nimsdai Purja of Nepal, is the guy who took the famous photo of the "conga line" to Everest a few years back at many thought was photoshopped.

A better climbing documentary (in my opinion) is The Alpinist about Canadian climber Marc-Andre Leclerc. Riveting and gorgeous.

Difficult to talk about the climbing documentaries without spoiling, I'll just say many talented people in all of these documentaries!

I binged "Voir" on Netflix and really enjoyed each video essay. The series focused on some interesting films and themes. I want to revisit a few of these movies now. Trailer: https://youtu.be/D_0vHst5670

Note: The trailer music---don't know what it is but I would like to know and see someone skate to it.

I enjoyed Baking It on Peacock. It's basically the same show as Making It only with baking (of course), two people teams, four grannies as judges! and Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg as hosts (they're great!) It's a very sweet "we love everyone" type of show. So if you like that kind of hokey sweet reality shows you'll enjoy this - only six episodes.

Also on Peacock I enjoyed One of Us is Lying. This is a teen whodunit drama. I believe it's based on a young adult book. Maybe a bit formulaic but it still kept me guessing and had the usual teenage angst. I liked it a lot.

As soon as I came home today, I bought a new subscription for Sky in order to watch the first two episodes of the SATC sequel "And Just Like That"...if you haven't seen it yet and want to, I am not going to spoil anything, but make sure you have handkerchiefs and wine ready.
I am very much into this even though I miss Samantha a lot. I am very much looking forward to the next episodes.

I was only going to buy a month to month HBO Max subscription to watch And Just Like That, but my credit card had a deal for $25 off so I splurged on a full year. There are a few other shows I’ve been wanting to check out. I’m so excited to watch my SATC girls tonight! When I was at my lowest point health-wise, the reruns were always a source of comfort for me. Like hanging with old friends.

I think The Great British Baking Show has found that a lot of us crave the sweetness (and the food!) I recently binged one of the seasons of Britain's Best Home Cook and enjoyed it.

Drunk Irish People Identify US States

Wait until they put Colorado and Wyoming back to back.
So fun,
Loved at the beginning asking americans where Leitrim is - I know where that is as my grandma is from there and I have been there.
some of the guesses... lol
Calabasas
Boston
New England (Joey on Friends listed that as one of the 50 states in an episode, I am pretty sure he had over 50 states - many sports teams were states)
Nevada - not that is in Arizona
and all the comments about the straight lines / blocks.

We watched the new Home Alone today. It was more enjoyable than I expected, but not great. Little mic REALLY liked it  I feel like that premise really needs a villian. But some of the call backs to the original were kind of fun and I like hearing my kids giggle so not a total waste of time.

We watched it too since it's streaming. I thought it was pretty ridiculous.

I actually enjoyed the original one because back then everyone didn't have cell phones and internet so you could almost believe that they couldn't get someone to watch Kevin even though it was still kind of silly. But these days, the premise just doesn't work. And having all this slapstick and destruction with no consequences and
the two families being friends at the end
was completely unbelievable.

completely unbelievable
I once ended up at the Rambo in Afganistan movie with my ex -- by the time we go to the multiplex, the movie I wanted to see was sold out -- and after one unbelievable scene after another, when the last implausible thing happened, some guy a few rows ahead of us stood up and screamed "THAT'S BULLSH!T!!!!!!!" and stormed out of the theater.

Ex and I looked at each other, like, "After chomping his popcorn through the rest of the movie, the guy decided this was what crossed the line?" (Maybe it was because he ran out of popcorn...)

I think one should expect unbelievability from a Rambo movie. And for the Home Alones you do have to suspend a certain amount to set up the premiss. I was willing to do that.

But the whole plot in this thing didn't make a lick of sense. Also, the boy was not sympathetic like Kevin was in the first one. But the bandit couple was. If you don't like the boy, then him torturing people you do like doesn't work either.

I will say that I am someone who doesn't like plots that are driven by people making all sorts of assumptions and then whacky hijinks ensue. So all those sitcoms like Three's Company are not my cup of tea. If you like those and find them funny, you probably will like this version of Home Alone enjoyable enough.

I'm diving back into Season 1 The Witcher. I started reading a summary only but got lost because I remember nothing about it. So I've decided to rewatch but I have my handy dandy timeline ready to go. I will be referring to it with each new scene in an episode so I know where we've jumped. Then I will start Season 2. Wish me luck!

I finished season 4 today and omg.
This season is more grounded as it mainly deals with Retsuko’s issues in the workplace, older employees being pressured to leave and pushed out due to layoffs, corporate attitude changes from being employee-focused to shareholder focused, and her own personal relationship with Haida finally gaining momentum after three seasons and a Christmas special full of him yearning for her with her only thinking of him as a friend/co-worker with a few unexpected crashes and burns.

Season 4 of Aggretsuko is on my list next.

I hurt my back and can barely move so the only thing I've done all day is watch The Witcher and lie on the couch trying not to move. I think I'm a little pissed off at the writers. I am just about to start episode 5 of Season 2 and had to express a couple thoughts.

First of all Geralt brings Ciri to to the Witcher's hideout which I was hoping to like more than I did. They've already specified that Witcher's emotions are suppressed. I think the writers lost a lot of subtlety here. At times they made the Witchers seem just mean instead of just emotionally suppressed warriors training someone begging to learn. They were teaching her the same way they were taught. I don't really know how to explain that impression so thoughts and responses are welcome. I just think this whole training thing was far more nuanced than they pulled off in the episodes.

Second, although I was glad to see the return of Jaskier the writers took that opportunity to give a big FU to the fans who watched season 1 and had issues with it. It also didn't make sense with his storyline. He's smuggling elves to safety and then screws it up by arguing with a guard? So basically the fans are represented but a bigoted idiot guard who beats the crap out of elves. Great job writers. I don't see this going down well with the fans that were truly confused by your season 1 meandering storyline. If they had told the story better we wouldn't have so many confused people.

I just need some time to start watching Season 2 of The Witcher. More of Henry Cavill grunting and saying "f*ck" (which there is a great Youtube clip which is solely of him grunting and saying "f*ck").

January looks like a good month on HBO with returning and new series. “The Gilded Age” caught my eye:

Emily in Paris is a really good show on Netflix (Canadian at least). Season 2 is being released Wed but I am rewatching it as it's been quite a while since I saw it.
