What you have to do is score so many points the fed doesn't have a choice but send you. They'd be fools to send Boi/Koz at this point. I don't think they're fools. But, I'm already resigned to Russian nationals being heartbreaking anyway. I'm stocking up on tissues.
Cue the Battle of the Swans at RusNats. My prediction as to who will be the last swans standing? P/K!

Rostelecom Day 1 Pairs:

Kadyrova/Balchenko: couldn't focus, as their isu bio does not list 'aladdin' as thir fs anymore, but 'prince pf persia' instead :drama:
Mitrofanov: desperately needs better tailored pants!
Pavliuchenko/Khodykin: Her tights 🔥 I so damn need them in Beijing instead of B/K.
AUT. Is this a new program? Cannot tell. Zzzzh. Sorry, that's a team I just don't connect to at all.
ITA. Rooting for them for some kind of nostalgy effect but meh meh meh program. No spark.
MTM. I don't get it. They are with sister-Marcotte now too? Or is this still an entire team? I am confused.
Galliamov. The grin to start still does it for me, the rest of this program I have seen too often. And I am starting to get meh about his posture. Guess this happens when you're not blinded by total porniness anymore :p
Overall: Daria leading and Mishina reaction

Best Dressed: -
Do-Hard: Galliamov
I think that's Alison Purkiss. She's their 2nd coach (also coaches Walsh/Michaud).
Rostelecom Day 1 Women:

Matsuike. That sealed the deal for her olympic chances.
Schizas. CAN ladies....zzzh. What happened to Ruiter (and her awesome splats?) @RoseRed is there selection criteria fot olympic spot or just national champ?
Mikutina. Badass outfit. Schaller got so good this season, need to recheck AUT criteria. But this was her first outing, so...
Safonova. I love her actual pure, big skating. A shame the pesentation is a big meh still.
Random mid note seeing Vasiliev in knc: What happened to Korovin? Wasn't he supposed to skate with some PHI girl?
Bunnygirl. #tickettotallinn
Kiibus. Petrokina for worlds is getting more and more realisitc.
Hendrickx. She is for sure the only spoiler lady, if one RUS lady decides to falter at Euros. Messy though.
Kurakova. Schott for Euros Top5.
Khromykh. :yikes: CS POL continues...a shame. I have a soft spot for her.
Valieva. Preferred old dress.
Ryabova. I am starting to sound like @alchemy void but who the **** gets the 2nd AZE euros spot? :drama: There are only 2 AZE listed in ISU SB's list, and Beverly Wooden does not even meet criteria :drama:
LaTuk. It will suck for 1 of the 4 in contention being left off, but of course it will suck so much more if this one will be Tuk :D Audience support
Overall. Camera dude missing jumps again. Drunk or bedazzled by @Ka3sha flirt attacks?

Best Dressed: Jorik
Do-Hard: Jorik
They have like a general BOW of work criteria (I can link it later), but mostly SC prefers to go by Nats (more than US fed anyway). But it looks like Kaiya won't be at Nationals (reasons not public), so pretty much it's Madeline's spot to lose.

Rostelecom Day 1 Women:

Bunnygirl. #tickettotallinn
Make that #beijingbound
women: Kihira, Sakamoto and Higuchi. If Kihira is still injured then Miyahara.
Mihara's been outscoring Miyahara so far this fall.
I'd put Mihara on the team over both Higuchi and Miyahara but especially Miyahara. Higuchi is just too wildly inconsistent to be trusted for use in either segment of the TE. Sakamoto is the best bet for the SP and Mihara has been putting up really solid FS scores all season. If Kihira is a no-go, you'd want Mihara on the team instead of either Higuchi or Miyahara.
I will die laughing if Camden totally hits at Nationals and out scores Brown.
So will I, @rfisher, so will I! I'd also die laughing if Paniot or Hiwatashi totally hit at Nationals and outscore Brown. And we both know I'd just sit here smirking if Ma or Malinin does it, lol.

Not really seeing how that makes sense?

Let's compare the GP results:

Boikova/KozlovskiiPavliuchenko/Khodykin
205.53 (SA)193.08 (SC)
216.96 (IdF)212.59 (CoR)

I don't know how you look at that and say they'd be "fools" to send B/K. That's just not supported by the scores at this point.

And for the record, I prefer P/K and would like them to get the spot.

And that leaves you with one open spot. The Japanese have three women's spots, not two.

Well, I'm assuming Kihira will get one spot if she shows up at Japanese Nats in any sort of competitive shape. And Sakamoto should have hers sewn up by making the GPF. Given a choice between Mihara, Higuchi and Miyahara for the 3rd spot, I would go with Mihara.

Scenario 1 - Sakamoto, Mihara, Kihira
Scenario 2 - Sakamoto, Mihara, Higuchi

With the GP campaign over.. My bets for the Oly teams from the powerhouses (the only ones with surprises) are as follows:

MEN:

CAN
Lock: Messing
Bloodbath: Nguyen still frontrunner over Sadovsky due to consistency.
Dark Horse: Orzel

JPN
Lock: Hanyu, Uno, Kagiyama
If Yuzu not in shape then Komono vs Sato in bloodbath.

RUS:
Lock: Kolyada
Flip a Coin Battle: All the other stamina boys. I would give the edge to Ignatov and Semenenko though.

USA:
Lock: Chen, Zhou, Brown. Period.

LADIES:

CAN
Lock - Schizas. No contest.

JPN
Lock - Sakamoto
Bloodbath - Kihira, Higuchi, Mihara. It all depends on Rika's health.
Dark Horses: Kawabe, Miyahara.

RUS
Lock - Valieva
Bloodbath - Tuktamysheva, Scherbackova, Trusova. Again it all depends on Sasha's health.
Slim Chances - Kostornaya, Kromykh

USA
Lock - Liu
Bloodbath - Tennell, Bell, Chen. Yet again , everything depending on Bradie's shape.
Dark Horses - none really but Bell & Chen are so inconsistent that who knows.

CAN - the way MTM have been skating, I won't be surprised if they lose to Walsh/Michaud.

USA - K/F are a lock - they're already in Group 2 so all they need is a Top 5 at Nats. Bloodbath between the other 3 with a slight edge to C-G/L, yes.

RUS - agree on Z/G if healthy, if not - bloodbath between D/S and not M/B but Skoptcova/Aleshin.

USA - H/B can probably lock themselves in with another strong showing at Golden Spin and I don't see them losing to GrePar at Nats given how well their delayed season debut went this weekend.

In da bossman's absence last Deccember, we were debating whether to add unknown kid when he made his debut at Russian Nationals. It boggles the mind that we ended up waiting as lon as we did. 🤷‍♂️

Ummmm Not even a dark horse for the current USA silver medalist? How dare
I'd put Glenn and Thorngren in my dark horses list for the US. Amber is the only other US woman to score 200+ this season and Thorngren could certainly play spoiler.

T/M have the highest total score of the season and highest short program score of the season. I think they’re locks not just to go, but most likely also a lock on the short program in the team event (with M/G doing the fs). The real battle is maybe B/K vs P/K, but I’d asterisk that because I think the fed will go with B/K as world medalists.

Canada…. Yeah, with how MTM are skating right now…. W/M tend to have a rough fall and rally at nationals.

I would mostly agrree with regarding TM being locks if they weren't, well... them. They have the meltdown potential to end up the 4th rus team at both GPF and Nationals.

As for the team event. Pairs this time will be the last individual event, so I can see Mishina/Galiamov doing both team programs.

I don't think TarMor are likely to meltdown so badly as to finish 4th behind MishGal, BoiKoz and PavKho at BOTH the GPF and RusNats. Maybe one but definitely not both, and they've usually competed very well at RusNats. MishGal are more likely to melt down at RusNats and finish 4th than TarMor (see 2020 & 2019).

I agree about the Team Event, especially if SinKats are too fragile to compete in both segments of the TE. It might be better to put MishGal in for the Team Event SP even if they run the risk of finishing below Sui/Han, Miura/Kihara, Knierim/Frazier and James/Radford if they blow their SBS 3S again (it's happened twice out of three competitions so far this season) - my initial thought was TarMor in the TE SP and MishGal in the TE FS but Nikita is not looking strong and dance is up the first week after the TE.

The following is just for you, boss, but may be helpful for others.

Criteria:
1) Skater needs a complete package to potentially be a top skater at Euros/4CC's/Worlds/Olympic level
2) Skater needs to have the ability to absolutely rock one day and splat the day after. Even better: rock and splat during one program
3) Skater is not afraid of breaking one's heart over and over again
4) Skater needs more splat/messy performances than great ones

Rules:
1) Worlds/Olympic medalists and Euro/4CC's champions are not eligible
2) Multiple Euros/4CC's medal winners are not eligible
3) Membership and changes to the Rules and Qualities shall be decided by consensus among longstanding posters in the #TeamTrainwreck Threads, subject to points 1) and 2)
4) The pinky166 is not allowed to make more than one proposal a day
5) Proposals can be submitted in the #teamtrainwreck thread
6) New membership is granted only to current skaters
7) New membership is only granted to senior skaters (at least one international senior competition)
8) Membership can be cancelled due to points 1) and 2), numerous decent skates in a row or not being competitive on elite level anymore.

Qualities:
1) Student of Volchkova/Rukavicin
2) Big boobs/nice ass
3) Boobs/belly/nipples showing
4) Mule kick
5) Uzbek/Russian
6) Last name called Schott
7) Bizarre off-ice incidents
8) Coach
9) Costume (-Malfunction)
10) Splats
11) Bizarre choreography
12) Hair
13) Bizarre salchows
14) Melting down in the second half of the Free program

FAQ:

If I post in this thread, does that mean I'm on #TTW?

No, the skaters are the ones on the Team, not us. But you may aspire to joining the Fans' Auxiliary.
Why isn't being hot and Italian one of the Criteria?
The Criteria have to do with skating, not physical appearnce, you silly thing! You, of all people, should know better.
Okay, sorry! Why isn't being hot and Italian one of the Qualities?
 It is implicit in the listed Qualities. Let's move on.
Who decides whether a skater's membership should be cancelled on grounds other than medalling or retirement?
Normally, the bossman, possibly with the advice of vice. But there's always a first time for everything.
Why are Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Han Yan on the List?
The bossman has his delusions, and we humor him.
Do you have to be voidy to be on the Team?
No, but it helps. You do, however, have to be heartbreaking.
Is there an anti-American bias here?
Not at all. Several Americans are or have been on the team, e.g., Amber Glenn, Camden Pulkinen, and Gracie Gold.
Isn't this "Team" just a haven for the bossman's favorites
No. If it were, Alexander Samarin would have been on it years ago.
What is the Black Mark of #TTW?
It's our own special curse, bestowed when the bossman allows a skater to the Team based on a certain number of votes rather than his own judgment or a consensus, as required by Rule #3. The curse has been known to end skaters' careers or send their lives into a tailspin
Sally Skater and Peter Partner fell on their death spiral at last weekend's competition. Surely that makes them worthy of the Team.
In and of itself, falling once or even several times in one program does not warrant membership. Please reread the Criteria.
Why aren't skaters allowed on the Team before they skate Seniors at the international level?
We want to give them time to mature without putting too much pressure on them.
Do Junior World medals disqualify a skater from consideration?
No. If anything, they add to the luster of a #TTW candidacy.
Can a thread be #TTW?
Only if it's this one.
Why is this thread in The Trash Can, whereas the Russian Ladies thread is in Great Skate Debate?
We care about the company we keep.
Is there a King and Queen, or is everybody equal?
No, but we do have the bossman and vice.
Will #TTW survive after this season?
Stayed tuned.
Can someone explain what this thread is about/for?
No.

😘

Or, M/G meltdown at nationals again and end up 4th again.

Even when clean, M/G haven’t broken 80 in the short. T/M have and with a higher score than S/H have put up this season with the potential to push that score even higher.

For the team event, if they have to split dance, I think they’d be better off to use the same lady because whoever it is will win. If Nikita gets even more injured, it may make it a scenario where S/B have to be the team for both.

Russian men: It’s too bad they can’t just send 3 more of the ladies….

Yes, it could be a scenario where they put their #3 lady (hopefully Tuk) in the TE and split Pairs & Dance; though if they have to use StepBuk in both segments of the TE then they might as well just concede gold to the US right then and there. Which might be a sacrifice they're willing to make if they think they can politik their way to gold for SinKats over PapCiz.
