Devastating floods in Germany

It is a catastrophe. I am safe but I have friends in the area and they send devastating pictures.

And then we have people who tell us that now this is used as election campaign because people are telling us in the news that this is climate change.
So if they tell it during "normal" times they just want to make panic and if they tell it now it is just about being elected.

I am so sick of this. All of us have to wake up and not talk about climate change but climate catastrophe.

Effing climate change! This is awful. And I have to tell that I love the Germans. They've been through a lot and have emerged as excellent world citizens imho. Now I can say the world needs more Germanys.

In Erftstadt und an der Rurtalsperre ist die Situation weiter dramatisch. Straßen sind zerstört, Häuser drohen einzustürzen. Andernorts versuchen die Menschen, die Trümmer wegzuräumen – so gut es eben geht.

I think the worst news are more than 100‘dead among them 12 severly handicapped people in a home. The people who cared for them got only a few minute warning that the flood had broken through and they were all drowned in their beds on the ground floor within minutes. The personal is traumatized.

In addition to having trash thrown at them, aid workers are also receiving insults, Germany's Federal Relief Agency has revealed. The Querdenker anti-lockdown movement has been blamed.
