[At Skate Detroit] Novice lady Audrey Meredith earned a TES score of 66.35 (w/ bonus) in her Free and jumps included a 3Lz+3T (during the first round), 2A+3T, and 3Lz+2T+2Lo. Audrey’s Free totaled at 104.83 with PCS of 38.48.
I looked up her last season's qualifying season results and Audrey Meredith finished in 17th place (of 24 total, 10th in FS) in the Intermediate Ladies final round at Upper Great Lakes Regionals last October with double jumps and without attempting 2A... that's a LOT of improvement in 10 months and can sometimes happen with young skaters, which is exciting. :)

I heard Audrey was selected to compete in the North American Cup Novice invitational at Wild Rose in Edmonton, Canada later this week so it's good to see her progress is being noted and rewarded by USFS. Four others invited to NAC (hearsay info) competed in Intermediate at Nationals: Isabeau Levito 2nd, Tamnhi Huynh 4th, Hannah Herrera 6th, Amber Barth 11th; plus Adele Zheng (7th in Intermediate at Upper Great Lakes Regionals last season) and one of the top scoring Novices so far this season, like Meredith.

Audrey went from having just doubles to landing a clean 3Lz+3T, 3Lz+2T+2Lo, and 2A+3T? Insane. Hopefully Audrey can keep the momentum going into Sectionals and be one of the top 4 novice ladies in her Sectionals to earn the opportunity to compete as a junior at Nationals. Also, do you have any scoring info on the four you just mentioned, @Sylvia? I would love to see how their scores stack up and what jumps were attempted during the summer competitions. It seems that we have a VERY strong ‘05, ‘06, and ‘07 group as most of them already have all their triples and are learning 3-3s or the 3A (or quads in the case of Alysa). Exciting.

A short video of Adam and Mariah working on the choreography.
I am a fan of using "soft swear words" in conversations, but have a question. Given the song title and the word "b..tch", how will ISU handle putting the song's name on its official documents? will the "word" be heard in the song during skates at competitions, or will they blur it out? just wondering..

I think Jason Brown's SP last season on official documents was "Love Is a Bitch" as one time Ted Barton was commentating on his performance early on last season and actually said the title out loud, but I think he said "Love's a Bitch". On a similar, note, although "sex" is not a swear word, it still has some people shaking in their boots at the mere mention of it, and I think Tonya Harding's 1992 SP set to "The People Are Still Having Sex" was on the official documents as well.

The top 2 Novice singles skaters from each of the 3 sections will advance to the Junior Event at the 2020 U.S. Championships and the top 4 will advance to National High Performance Development Team Camp (held right after Nationals): https://www.usfsa.org/content/5Advancement Details SINGLES.pdf
I would love to see how their scores stack up and what jumps were attempted during the summer competitions.
I don't believe protocols were published for the club competitions of the Novices you asked about. I'm still in the process of updating Novice Ladies scores and will post the top scorers when I can.

A short video of Adam and Mariah working on the choreography.

Ah, so Adam's friend, DJ ShyBoy did a mix of Work B*tch with another Britney song. So I'm guessing the swear words were edited out or obscured in the mix.

That's a cute video. They look like they know what they're doing in almost a sign language kind of way. It's a bit hard to figure out all that Adam is discussing with Mariah (because of the background noise in the rink, and the fact they appear to be going over stuff previously worked on). The process must be similar to learning dance choreography for modern, ballet, etc. And somewhat similar to learning lines as an actor or running through rehearsals for a stage performance.

"U.S. Ladies Champion and Olympic [team] medalist Bradie Tennell returned to Lake Placid to star in the Saturday Night Ice Show on July 20." (July 25 article by Christie Sausa): http://www.lakeplacidnews.com/page/content.detail/id/530173/Tennell-draws-a-crowd-at-Ice-Show.html
She will resume training at Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, with coaches Denise Myers and Jeremy Allen, training her new programs for the upcoming season.

"My long program will be to 'Cinema Paradiso,' which is more elegant and softer music than last year. It's a
different choice for me," Tennell said. "The short program is a surprise."

Overall, Tennell aims to feel more confident and skate up to her formidable abilities.

"It's a new season, and all I want to do is skate for myself and how I know I can skate," she said.
Bradie posted this photo yesterday from her home rink: https://www.instagram.com/p/B0j9hFPl6_i/

I love "Cinema Paradiso" as Bradie's Free. Bradie's been training around the world this summer with various coaches/technicians and I cannot wait to see the fruits of her labor blossom. I'll never understand people labeling Bradie as an example of "no talent" and all "hard work". In my opinion, having the foresight to see one's weaknesses and possessing the ability to work towards remedying and improving those shortcomings through pure hard work and determination IS talent. I am eagerly waiting for Bradie's return this season. As always, best of luck to Bradie and the rest of the US ladies.

Thank you for that! Is there any result or starting order link somewhere for this competition?
Their website basically gives info on a bunch of hotels lol.

Edit: found it on these twitter links but wtf is wrong with those presenters? They have a pretty damn strong ladies field and I tried to find some info beforehand who would be in, but absolutely nothing on their website. Me and my wife would totally have made the drive there today if we just would have known. Is it some weird secret who is skating or what?

@Per Club comps are run by volunteers. The comps are run for the benefit of the skaters and coaches (hence the list of hotels on the website) and host club, not random fans with no relation to the skaters. In recent years, Entryeeze schedules were available to everyone; now, with the advent of NQS and the USFS Event Mgmt System, which they require NQS comps to use (USFS basically wants to put EE out of business and have every club comp use their system), participant lists and start orders are not publicly posted. That is how USFS has set up their system.

The comp volunteers (no, not "presenters") are spending hours of their free time arranging hospitality (including transportation for judges and officials), registration, ice monitoring, practice ice, awards, and of course recruiting 'game-day' volunteers. I think the club comps have done a good job posting the schedules this season but it is unrealistic to expect them to obtain and post entry lists. The start orders are not done until the day before each event and they are not anywhere online, they are posted at the rink.

Bottom line, those who spend hours of their free time putting comps together are not doing it for you, they are not your employees, and they don't owe you anything. Your comment about "what is wrong" with them sounds rude and entitled.

Everything you said is true, but I would agree with Per is "them" is USFSA.

There are Olympians, National Champions and future stars at these events. They should be supported and promoted by the National body for the sport.

Top 3 Junior Ladies at Philadelphia:
1. Isabelle Inthisone, 148.95
2. Audrey Shin, 143.50 (First competition since injury)
3. Calista Choi, 136.16 (Her Junior Grand Prix event is in 2 weeks)

The North American Cup is also currently underway in Canada and has a few girls including Isabeau Levito and Audrey Meredith competing at 5:55 PM Mountain Time.

Livestream: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7ey6om

EDIT: It seems Alysa Liu competed today at a club competition and skated her Short to "Don't Rain On My Parade" so it is safe to assume that she is ditching "I've Got Rhythm" and keeping last season's Short.

With club comps, "them" is not USFSA, and I don't think that's what he/she was referring to. Club comps are run by the host club, this isn't Nats or SA. For Collegiate Nats that was held earlier in the week, there was a start order/results page posted on the Fan Zone, but that was b/c it's a USFS Championship event (and start orders weren't posted until the comp started).

WOW, Karen is gonna make me a believer!

And her SP just could become my fav program of the season. This Lauren sounds 10000000% like Adele.

Karen could help save USA ladies because outside of Bradie, ALysa, Ting and Mariah its lookin rather skim.

Does Amber have the best SP score for those who have a shot at SkAM? I think Starr now has much to prove.

Zingas' Chicago medley (81.86 in FS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqNSsy7pTe4

Having watched the top two skaters here I can see why Lin finished only 10 points behind Wang despite the gap in difficulty (no 3Lz or 3+3 for Lin). Lin's jumps are a bigger and more rotated, her presentation a bit more mature, etc. The 3Lo looks pretty solid which is important since it's the required jump in the short.

All of them are coming up pretty nicely, but by comparison you can see what a talent Alysa Liu is.

As for the seniors, there's nothing more that I would love to see Karen Chen come back in a big way -- hard work does pay off (just like Caroline Zhang did a few seasons back, although I think Karen is naturally more gifted than Caroline and didn't have as many technical issues to fix). Here's hoping that all our ladies are healthy and happy.

Oh, thanks for telling me that "they are not my employees", "they don't owe me anything", and that I am rude and entitled. That is just so over the top, sorry.

I know a lot about volonteers, I arrange some 15 events per year myself in another field and I love volonteers to death and know how much they do so spare me your arrogant lecturing. However, in arranging these things one of the top priorities is to get information out on the internet which is really not THAT hard. It doesn't have to look fancy, but just be put up. Out of the respect for the performers.

Now, as you so condescendly put it, as a "random fan with no relation to the skaters" (second class, I get it), I will at least try to re-arrange my tomorrow morning, find some company to go with me, pay a day pass and maybe some extra to support and watch the event tomorrow.

I think it’s a missed opportunity for USFS. They know who they’re assigning to the international events. They could easily tweet that out.

But Debbie S is right that the volunteers have way too many other things to do to make the competition run.

The "priority" is to get info to the skaters, their families, coaches, and officials. That is "respect" for the skaters (it's a competition, not a show). Really, the skaters do early-season comps to test out their programs and get feedback. I don't think any hope for a large audience or are offended if there isn't one. They care about the comp running on time, whether their music plays the way it's supposed to, the level of organization, and how quickly they can get their results and have their critique (if available). Volunteers bust their arses to make comps run smoothly, often with too-few volunteers, and to suggest there is something "wrong" with them b/c they aren't catering specifically to your needs is rude and entitled.

And as a club webmaster who also ran social media for my club's comp (and had to endure multiple DMs asking when we were going to post start orders and results (uh, this isn't IN or Fan Zone) while I was at work and our comp chairs were at the event handling 20 things at once b/c of too-few vols), I will point out that the people who post info on the club's website may not even know who is competing. I only knew b/c we used Entryeeze. But we won't next year and only our comp chair (aside from the ref and music coordinator) has access to the EMS (and her priority is answering 10-15 emails per day from skaters, parents and coaches). The ref does the schedule and the accountants do the start orders. We only see the schedule when the ref sends it to us and there are no names on it.
