The most prestigious adult figure skating event in the United States is taking place at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex on Wednesday through April 6. <snip>
Jeremy Abbott, an Olympic bronze medalist and four-time U.S. Champion, is hosting the opening ceremonies on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m., according to a press release.
On Saturday, April 6, two-time and reigning World Champion and Olympic bronze medalist Nathan Chen will appear to salute his home club, Salt Lake Figure Skating.
Best wishes to all competing, especially any and all FSUers! :)

I'd normally be there with everyone, but this year, I just started this new job, and Utah is so far that I'd need to take workdays off. I'm not yet ready to cancel my classes so that I can go skating. Not quite yet. But next year, I'm in.

Good luck, @purple skates, @ioana and all others competing!

Wish I could go! Would need to take time off work and with less than-ideal prep time (also because of work!), am not going all the way to Salt Lake this year. Hopefully by next year will get back to more humane hours and I can start practicing on a regular basis. Will stick to taking under-trained programs to local events in the meantime :).

Ooops! Sorry, somehow I thought you were going. Hope to see you next year! My competing days are long over, but I plan to drive up to UD to watch on at least some of the days.

Definitely! Masters events, in particular, are very competitive these days and have impressive technical content. UD is doable for me with a stopover in New York and one of my good friends lives there, so hopefully I can go next year.

Unfortunately, 5-time US Adult Dance Champs Shay Sterlace and Yovanny Durango will not be there due to his knee injury (and possible surgery). Hopefully they'll be back on the ice soon.

Does anyone know where results will be posted?
Once the starting orders are published there should be a link to post (I've looked but haven't found it yet).

Host club's website is here: https://www.skatesaltlake.org/event-info/2019-us-adult-figure-skating-championships

USFS' press release: https://www.usfsa.org/story?id=92328&type=media
This year marks the 25th year of the event and the third time being held in Salt Lake City. Seven athletes are set to compete at the U.S. Adult Championships for the 25th year in a row and will become U.S. Figure Skating’s first Adult Skating Platinum Lifetime Competitors. This recognition is a part of the Lifetime Competitor Recognition Program which recognizes competitive adult figure skaters who have successfully demonstrated longevity in the sport.
...
Competitors at the U.S. Adult Championships are divided into five age groups (21-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, 66+) and two tracks (masters and adults). Events are held in singles, pairs and ice dance, and in dramatic and light entertainment. Athletes qualify for championship events by placing in the top four at one of three sectional championships held in March.
This year’s championships events feature three-time reigning U.S. championship masters junior-senior ladies champion Regan Alsup and former Team USA athlete Matthew Blackmer in championship masters pairs with partner Carol Lynn Cooper.

I know they'd missed Easterns due to injury. I'm sorry to hear about his knee, and hope he recovers well.

Kristina was a 2013 and 2017 regional champ and was 6th or 7th at sectionals in 2017 - she's fabulous. Wonderful technique on her jumps too.
Kristina competed under her maiden name of Struthwolf and I liked watching her years ago (she always looked like she was enjoying herself on the ice and still does). She has shared her winning Adult Nationals FS on her YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRUT4LCUJqA

ETA that her baby boy Luca was born on 12/30/17. :)

Kristina used to come to our club competition for years, oftentimes the only Junior / Senior competing. I loved watching her skate.

Etna [Calif.] figure skater announces retirement at age 79: https://www.siskiyoudaily.com/sports/20190430/etna-figure-skater-announces-retirement-at-age-79
After 18 years of competing in events across the United States and the world, Etna resident Molly MacGowan has decided to retire from figure skating at age 79.

In a Facebook post last week, MacGowan announced her decision. “My practice sessions at The RRRink in Medford, Ore., are just no longer any fun,” she wrote. “I have found in the last two years my abilities have slipped away, one by one. I have lost my balance and coordination and have taken far too many falls.”
:(
She last competed on April 5 at the U.S. Adult National Championships in Salt Lake City in the Adult Light Entertainment 5 category. She skated to “Big Spender,” from “Sweet Charity,” and finished in third place to win bronze. MacGowan was honored at the opening ceremonies as the second oldest competitor out of over 500 skaters. She and two other participants who were 80, or turn 80 this year received a ‘Skate Forever Young’ rose from four time U.S. National Champion, Jeremy Abbott, and later the silver medal with the same name.
:)
