Competitions with Decent Number of Adults

I'm interested in doing more competitions this year, but I want to do competitions that have some adults at them. Ideally, many adults, but I'd also do "several". If you know of any competitions that tend to attract adults, let me know!

For me, I'm looking in the US; preferably east coast. But if you know some outside that area, list away.

I know the Garden State Games in NJ has been having several adults in recent years. Not tons, but enough to make it feel adult friendly. The Morris Open in NJ has had a good number of adults, although I missed that comp this year.

Outside of New Year's Invitational (all-adult comp) in Jan/Feb in northern VA (Wash FSC) and Adult Easterns, you could look at Skate Wilmington (July) or Autumn Skate (Nov), both SC of Wilmington (DE). The Chesapeake Open (MD) in June has adult events but only FS, not Showcase. There is a small group of local Pre-Bronze skaters (about 4) who have entered in the past but I don't know what they are doing this year. This year, we've been told the adult events will be Friday evening.

If you are interested in dance comps, Wash FSC hosts the Picken Pro-Am in June (as the title implies, skaters dance with their coaches, but there may be some solo events too) in northern VA and I've heard that it is a fun comp.

Don't forget ISI competitions too. I am not sure what ISI/USFS equivalents look like these days, but it used to be that if you had tested to certain levels in USFS you could compete at the equivalent level in ISI without taking the test for that level.

The USFS Adult Skating Committee Facebook page keeps a list of adult-friendly competitions in a note that is regularly updated. It also shows which competitions are part of the new Adult Competition Series. https://www.facebook.com/notes/us-a...ompetitions-camps-ice-dance/1297545336998738/

New Year's Invitational is a pretty big adult-only competition.

Peach Classic is also big. I don't think it's all adult but I think they only have non-adult events on Sunday or after the adult events conclude. Usually happens around Labor Day.

Buckeye Open is an adult-only competition held in Ohio. For many years it was in Cincinnati but it's now in Cleveland. Should be in late October - dates aren't official yet. I also have heard that they will have IJS.

Peach Classic in Duluth, GA and the New Year's Invitational in northern Virginia are both well attended, fun adult competitions. I have competed at those a lot in the past. The only slight negative is that they're at rinks far out in the suburbs, so if you have to fly there, you'd need to rent a car to get to the competition.

Hershey Open in PA, August 9-12th. Part of the Adult Competition Series, IJS starting at Pre-Bronze FS, Light Entertainment events for all levels and I've been told we can throw tossies and they will have sweepers. Plus, chocolate.

Challenge Cup in mid September (PSCHS, Ardmore, PA) has adult freestyle and offers critiques for IJS events.

I think I'll do the competition series thing, which means Delaware and Hershey for me, as well as Sectionals, once those have a location. I hope additional competition series events end up in my area. I'll also do the Garden State Games so long as I can get another adult or two do to it with me. ;)
