Seriously, people? In those photos, Lipnitskaya does not look overweight at all. She's getting older, her body is changing. We cannot expect her to stay the same as she was when she was 14 or whatever. And we wonder why girls suffer from low self-esteem, anorexia/bulimia, body dysmorphia, etc. We really need to change the unreasonable expectations concerning body image society puts on young people. *smh*
She might be out of shape and not competition ready but she's definitely not overweight. :/

Interesting Emanuel Sandhu was with Plushenko in Chechnya in last autumn. They made a great ice show for the birthday of Grozny city. I heard about the persecution of gays in this year.[/QUOTE]
I think the story about the "gay concentration camps" broke after the Plushenko show. But I wonder how Sandhu feels now about performing in Grozny?

Nobody called her overweight for regular life. Only for competition; her fans got alarmed, when they saw her recent fotos.

What? when sha said that?
Lord help me, if that's overweight, I'm grossly obese.

Lipnitskaya announced herself that she is moving on. In several recent interviews Lipnitskaya said “I am looking to find myself in areas outside of sport. I need to start studying, to learn new things and to develop myself as a person”.

She was finally given a long-time promised apartment (for her Sochi Team win), and she is busy decorating it. One publication did a small documentary on her key apartment acceptance ceremony.

This is a video of her walk-through the new apartment:

She did gain weight, she is not denying it. There were quite a few articles about it in the press. She was asked several times by reporters (rather rudely I think) if her cause of weight gain is a possible pregnancy.

She denied it, of course, and said (in several interviews it is a slightly different answer) in a nut-shell: “I starved myself long enough when I was competing. I am not going to do it anymore to keep myself at 37 kg just to please my fans”.

http://poliksal.ru/show-biznes/2311...-otvetila-na-zamechaniya-o-svoey-polnote.html

One exact translation when she snaps (partially with a slang): “I don't have any pregnancy, i had it up to here with you! Have some decency. What am I supposed to be 37 kg for the rest of my life just to please fans? I had enough of dieting already.”
https://dni24.com/exclusive/135091-yuliya-lipnickaya-obyavlyaet-o-zavershenii-sportivnoy-karery.html

«Нет у меня никакой беременности, достали уже. Совесть поимейте. Мне что теперь, всю жизнь 37 кг весить, чтоб вас порадовать? Нахуделась уже, хватит!», - нервно отвечает своим же болельщикам Юлия.

I knew about that interview, but why she does not announce her retirement formally?, she does not need to do much, a message in instagram could be enough. I think she is not sure.

I like Yulia's attitude. Staying underweight just to please fans and media is insecure and immature and she seems to be neither. She is not tall and 37 kilos is underweight even if it is considered desireable for a female skater. She looks normal now and anyone calling her overweight now would call me obese at 50 kilos which is about 110 lbs.

Is ... Proklova... officially out of singles and/ or pairs?!
Yes, Proklova is done. She has no chance with singles. For that she would need full set of triples and be consistent, which she didn't manage when she tried coming back as singles a few years back. Then she tried pairs, she even had a reasonably good partner, who waited for her to heal another of her injuries, but it seems that it was too much for her physically and putting too big strain on her back.( If I understand correctly, that's where is is getting often injured.) So I don't think there is much hope for singles or pairs career. Although she hasn't tried ice dance yet. Personally I think it is too late for ice dance.

Is there any official post/proof by her or any coaches/fed officials about this?
No. Oleg Vasiliev said in his interview back in May that she will most likely retire as pair skating turned out to be more difficult for her than she expected in the beginning.

Ekaterina Borisova (skated with Dmitri Sopot) is currently in Toronto. Just visiting or having try-outs?

I called her overweight. For a competitive skater!! That is obvious.

Well, Gracie is in the same boat and yet her fans seem to think she'll be ready to compete in a couple months.

I posted an interview here with her first coach some weeks ago and she said Yulia was still recovering from an injury but still planned to compete (she is in regular contact w/Yulia's mother). Maybe she has changed her mind since then, but there has been no official announcement that she is retiring. She's only 19. Who says she can't lose weight if she wants and come back later on if her injury is healed? Isn't that exactly what Adelina is planning to do?

Good lord Anna :swoon: if she doesn't make the Olympic team it'll be a crime against humanity. The world deserves to see beautiful people like her, all she has to do is take her starting position and she'll gain soooo many new fans. :smokin: :swoon: nobody else can say that

OK. And when she will learn the jumps with her new weight? Did anyone see her on training? And where? In Sochi? She is in Moscow.

What part of "she's injured" is so hard for people to understand? Maybe Yulia wants to spend time in her flat in Moscow and see her friends if she's not able to train? Or maybe she is in Sochi now...who would know? Are you tracking her with an ankle bracelet?

Why doesn't everyone just wait for an official update?

Their competition is a lot different.

I'm saying that nobody is assuming she retired just because she put on some pounds and is jumping 1As, so why is anyone assuming Yulia is especially since she has the excuse of being injured? Could she retire? Sure...but nowhere has she said that yet. People are jumping to conclusions because she said she needs to study and find interests outside of sports. Plenty of skaters study and it's never too early to make plans for your future career. Especially if she can't train for awhile.

Alena Leonova is still competing, so there's certainly still room for an OGM winner to come back if she is willing and able.

Although Gracie has made it verbally very clear that she plans to continue at least until 2018

I do not think anyone is assuming that Yulia is retiring just because she looks different. I think people are assuming she is retiring because she had a major injury, there have been rumors that she was retiring for months, she doesn't have a GP assignment, she made a wonderful snarky comment to an interviewer about how she doesn't have to be __ kilos the rest of her life & has dieted enough, she hasn't announced any music/choreographers/plans to continue, and we have already heard that Russia won't consider athletes for retirement prior to the Russian test skates, plus the athletes supposedly have a financial incentive to remain on the list until that time period.

If she's not retiring, that will be a lesson for the rumor mill.

But if she's done, may she be happy, healthy, and have a wonderful future.

I will post this interview one more time, draw your own conclusions. It was published on June 9. By the way, there were rumors from someone claiming insider knowledge (from the Navka Ice Queen forum) that the weight gain was due to side effects of drugs she had to take for her injury.

http://www.ural.aif.ru/sport/other/pervyy_trener_lipnickoy_ne_stavte_na_yule_krest

Elena LEVKOVETS: - You need to know the nature of Julia, to draw conclusions. She never gives up. Do not put a cross on it before, please.Such athletes are born once in a decade, she is talented. Of course, she was tortured by injuries, but she is successfully recovering and will be in good shape by the September selection. Competitors in any case will be worried and this will give Yulia an extra chance. From her now no one waits for miracles, she is a dark horse. This is what suits her now.

- Lipnitskaya now rarely appears in her native city.Do you keep in touch with Julia?

- Recently, we do not often call up, I have classes with children, she has training. But with her mother, Daniil Leonidovna, we are in touch. Now Yulia is in Sochi with her coach Alexei Urmanov. Treatment after a leg injury is almost complete. We are waiting for the autumn and the first qualifying starts.
