Royalty Thread #11: Putting the "Fun" in Dysfunctional

I really liked the excerpts I saw from Prince Charles' speech from Davos. All this Megxit stuff has caused me to look closer at the engagements of the other royals and to have a look at their schedules. Just realised how much stuff royals like Princess Anne and Prince Edward and Sophie do...

I presume that royal engagements are worked out some time in advance. I wonder what has occurred with the ones that Meghan and Harry were set down to do?

Meghan seemed entirely unconcerned and was broadly smiling directly into the camera lens looking serene. So that might suggest it’s Harry that has the problem. Either that or Meghan was deliberately acting a happy expression to make sure that the photos weren’t used as proof she was unhappy or...

From Russia with Love [#35]: Winter 2019

Mishin is probably taking Hersh a bit literally - obviously Tuktamysheva will never compete for another country. I think it’s more about the tragedy of there being so many excellent Russian women and so few spots for them - particularly when a major skating nation like Canada is struggling in...

The events happening right now with the leaders from Africa is why I think the Queen wanted this drama sorted really quickly. I wouldn't be surprised, with Harry's connections to Africa, that he would have originally been planned to be heavily involved in the engagements. They would have needed...

This is an interesting article: https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/a-taste-of-things-to-come-picture-shows-sad-reality-of-harry-and-meghans-new-life/news-story/0e573e6945e2138c4581e884b2edde9d It talks about the strict limitation on paparazzi in the UK in respect of the...

Royalty Thread #11: Putting the "Fun" in Dysfunctional

I think the statement makes it known that Harry doesn’t want to wash his hands clean of the people. Because so much of the coverage online afterwards was terrible stuff making out like the whole country and commonwealth and everyone in it was toxic and this was Harry punishing the people from...

That’s a really well written statement. I wish something like that had been put on their website when they launched the first news of the split.

I suspect that is it. She's probably trying to inject some control and reality into him while she's still alive. A bit like a weekly 'this is your conscience speaking'. Everything Andrew did was facilitated by the ability to gallivant around the world with a feeling of zero consequences. Yes...

Yes, this made me chuckle. I think it shines some light on the reality that Harry is so very very eligible and such a 'prize' to be pursued because of his money and title. Would stunning women be throwing themselves at him if he was a regular bloke? I think that he's grown up in a world where...

I imagine that a bit of the animosity in the Canadian press might be linked to Trudeau (allegedly who knows) saying that Meghan and Harry’s security would be attended to in Canada. People often don’t like politicians promising chunks of money for things.

Far out. If Harry has fallen into the trap of reading those comments then no wonder he is in a bad space. He needs to have taken a leaf out of Zagitova’s book who replaced her phone with one with no internet so she couldn’t be tempted to read the social networks.

Engagement in the comments gives news sites repeat traffic and increases ad revenue. That’s why I think the Daily Mail works as hard as possible to create click bait and spicy comments. It’s a business model.

I think it’s hard to judge a whole nation and everyone in it, young and old, by tabloids. I imagine it would be like saying that Fox News represents every USA citizen. For example a lot of people just call the Australian edition of Daily Mail the ‘Daily Fail’.
