Anna Shcherbakova has withdrawn from Rostelekom due to illness 😿. https://fsrussia.ru/news/5235-anna-shcherbakova-snyalas-s-etapa-gran-pri-v-moskve.html

Just because it is not realistic doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be cool :)

Only because Canada currently has multiple international competition spots, including Grand Prix home invite spots, and a huge talent drought right now in the ladies field. I can’t think of another fed that has so many spots and such average skaters to fill them. Sorry, I know they are doing...

I like Emmi Peltonen of Finland already! It would be nice to see Gubanova and other talented Russians skating for countries that don’t already have exciting ladies skaters.

I’m not from Canada — But I did think selfishly that if Gubanova switched to Canada, it would give me someone far more enjoyable to watch at Skate Canada, 4 Continents, and Worlds than they have at the moment.

I don’t know if that’s remotely possible or realistic, but Canada needs her!

Agree about the cantilever being impressive from the side — perhaps Pluschenko is thinking of sparing the eyes of rest of the audience by giving the crowd the more aesthetic view, and figures the judges can handle a bit of provocation ;) Seriously, though — your idea reminds me of Kaori’s move...

I doubt her purpose in doing what has become one of her signature moves in front of the judges is to ‘flaunt her crotch.’ She has a good cantilever, and the idea of anyone being so fixated on her crotch as some of the people on this forum may not have occurred to her or her choreographers, who...

I wonder if the Russians are just more up front about training while injured. They seem relatively direct about many things, on the whole.

    Medvedeva leaves Orser for Tutberidze

Hey, Anna Shcherbakova can still do most of her jumps so far this year, and I thought it looked like she might lose them as she grew. So anything is possible for these skaters. They are fighters.

    Medvedeva leaves Orser for Tutberidze

Yes, I am assuming that. Based on how she was jumping last year, it didn’t look very sustainable to me. But she is still young enough that a coaching change might get her a better technique and kill my argument. Also, I agree with you that Bell and Tennell could certainly get worse as they age...

    Eteri Tutberidze Method

I agree with much of Tinami’s argument: Eteri may not be unique in her strictness or unique in having students that get injured — but she has had more success, and that puts her in the spotlight. There is fiercer competition in Russia, so that adds pressure and stress for Russian skaters, but...

    Eteri Tutberidze Method

That I agree with. Much better analogy and an argument worth making. Comparing her to Nasser is hyperbolic and pretty unfair. There are rumours about her, but they are not about sexual abuse.

    Medvedeva leaves Orser for Tutberidze

Sorry, I tried to clarify my original post in another post. I meant that Liu would be beaten by Bell and Tennell if she loses her quad and 3A, which with how she jumps them now looks like a possibility to me. And regardless of whether she can continue to beat Bell and Tennell with them, she will...
