"Gold on Ice" April 19, 2024 in Leesburg, VA featuring 3 World champions & a silver medalist!

Weirdly, I was there also! Kurt Browning skated to Joni Mitchell’s “River,” and it was transcendent, unforgettable

Will there be a US Nationals in 2025?

Being allowed to bring in outside food would be a powerful inducement! Especially for a week-long event, like Nationals or Worlds. And if you could bring in food for your fellow sufferers too, you could easily recoup the costs of the trip in tips!

The Dance Hall 12: Boston Tea Dance Party

And, they had a really good FD that season. I saw it live at 4CC, it was breathtaking!

    U.S. Ice Dance 2023-24 news & updates

I wouldn’t say desperate. I would say, under-utilized. And though she’s not as young as some, neither can we consider her as past her sell-by date—especially in this, the Deanna Stellato Era

The Dance Hall 11: Movin' On Up 2023-2024

But what if they retire?! I would suggest “You Should Be Dancin,’ Yeah,” because we are going to be hearing that song in several dozen disco medleys :)

I think it sounds like one of those oh-so-precious names young parents are giving their kids these days (source: my kid is a preschool teacher) :)

The Dance Hall 11: Movin' On Up 2023-2024

They did do that and as I recall, it was so unpopular—both with fans and judges—that they modified it and reduced the number of music cuts. So much for the ISU’s apparent belief that this is what the people want!

Imagine you're the ISU ice dance technical committee

Unless you are John Kerr, skating in a kilt for your Folk Dance. ETA: Glad to see someone else above had the same idea!

The Dance Hall 11: Movin' On Up 2023-2024

If this is true, the only thing I can think is that the ISU expects that all the old-timers among the current dance teams (in other words, the only ones still dancing who had to compete or train the classic pattern dances) will retire after 2024 Worlds, leaving no competitors who have the...

Alysa Liu retired in 2022 and is coming back in 2024

Why announce anything, then? Alysa could practice and/or just enjoy skating, completely free from prying eyes.

U.S. Women [#5]: Remain on the Dance Floor

Remember when Jean Luc Baker said he’d have an exciting announcement for us on a specified date a few days out—and all the resulting speculation? And it turned out to be, participating in some kind of seminar/master class. (Not that it would not be wonderful to work with Jean Luc on improving...

2023-24 US Pairs Discussion - Chan you count Howe many teams we have?

Not discounting what you say in any way, but wouldn’t all those factors also apply when a young skater chooses ice dance? There are fairly few high-level training centers for ice dance—yet the US, at least, has plenty of very competitive young dance teams.

We should take a vote. Does anyone here believe that Russia will not be back competing in time for the 2026 Olympics?
