Lawsuits against USA Gymnastics, Larry Nassar, etc. - news & updates

I kept going to practice while I was in a boot for a broken foot. You can still do conditioning exercises, some things on bars, flexibility. It was a long time ago so I don’t remember all the details but I had a lot of injuries in gymnastics and the only one where I ever stopped going to the gym...

As the Page Turns (the Book Thread)

The Blind Assassin has so much potential and there are some really great parts in there but other parts that really miss. It’s been many years since I read it but my recollection is that I feel like there are four pieces that need to be evaluated separately: 1. The present tense framing device...

No, I’ve seen in her bio that she publishes under that name but have been ambivalent about checking them out as genre romance novels aren’t really my thing. Now that I’m back at work, I also have too many things too read anyway (although in spite of that, I spent the weekend rereading two Maeve...

As the Page Turns (the Book Thread)

I read the latest by Victoria Helen Stone (the author of Jane Doe), False Step. The story for this one was reasonably interesting, but the protagonist was so irritating. She was really weak and sometimes stupid, which was disappointing after Jane was such a strong and smart character in Jane...

Rusty is a handsome man; I wouldn't refuse his invitation either.

Come to Skate Canada in Kelowna. Flight prices are surprisingly reasonable from the US and I would love to meet you in person!

Gymnastics News #21 - Tumbling on to Tokyo

She got a 6.7 D-Score when she competed it at the FIT challenge in Belgium. Sunisa Lee of the US is also potentially attempting a 6.7 D score routine on bars. Unfortunately it didn’t go so well at the American Classic where she basically had the equivalent of three falls. She posted what it’s...

Even if they move to Oakville, that doesn't mean they would stop representing Quebec. Joseph Phan moved but continues to represent Quebec. Quebec generally has better funding for its skaters than Ontario, so most skaters with any connection to Quebec represent Quebec.

I heard in March that she was still having concussion issues and was back on the ice but not fully. I didn’t hear anything specifically about tryouts one way or another but it wouldn’t surprise me if there weren’t any given her ongoing health issues.

96% Of Adults Can't Pass This Basic 3rd Grade Test. Can You?

I-94 goes from Billings, Montana through to Michigan, hitting Minneapolis/St. Paul and Chicago on the way. I frequently complain about the traffic on it. Yeah, that one also struck me as not a third grade level question. I had only heard of it because of a book I read on the causes of WWI a...

    2019-20 GP Selection (19-20 June)

Yes, I suspect you are right that she may be done. If she is planning to compete, I can’t imagine Skate Canada would snub her by giving the host spot to Cotop over Alaine, considering Alaine is the national champion and beat Aurora again at Worlds.

I have heard the same. And while I may not be a fan of hers either, they are the national champions and a high profile team that adds some prestige to the school whatever one’s personal feelings might be.

Jenny, I agree that the Hunter Forsythe character was great in The Paris Diversion and I also loved the 4syte PR person. Pretty much every scene involving Hunter and 4syte was gold. And I also found the stuff with Peter confusing - all I can think is that it’s setup for the next sequel?

Same here - I was impatient to read it and the library hold list was so long and I have loved all of Morton’s other books so I figured it was worth buying. I guess next time I’ll have to be more patient and preview it at the library first before I decide to buy. Maybe as a palate cleanser, I’ll...
