    Who's going to beat her?
  2. Jarrett

    Jarrett Firebird for worlds!

He really does. I took VERY basic adult lessons last year and he was always there. He actually came out of the office and showed me to the ice and helped me with my skates the first time I went to the rink to check it out. :respec:

Doesn't the ISU penalize you for not competing in the Grand Prix and other warm-up events? It's just not fair for skaters that have the burden of traveling and competing everywhere to lose the medal for a one time show. :kickass:

This may help you, read "Rule 102 2.Definition of an ineligible person". Yu-Na has no reason to be ineligible.

IMHO, skaters are not forced to take the burdens, GP series, Euro, FC, etc. If they don't want to do it, they need not to do it like Joannie, Evan, etc...

The matter is how many invitations skaters can receive from the hosting federations. And World championships has another solution to whom not competing during the ongoing season or immediately preceding season. "Preliminary Round". ;)

I lost a lot of respect for Yuna after the whole Brian Orser firing earlier this year.

^ what does that have to do with the price of fish in china?

regarding Yuna skipping the gp series, possibly the 4cc's and going straight to the Worlds - i really dont think her one and only goal and purpose is to win the gold. I'm sure it's one of her goals, but i think first and foremost, she wants to skate and deliver her performance and message of thanks to her country people and the audience. the girl's already achieved more than enough medal wise, i guess she wants to achieve more on an emotional and demonstrative level if anything.

    Now THAT would be fun.

(No disrespect to Kim) - What a World's that would be.

Hope Alissa could get any medal back to US.

If she wins Gold, it will be the first time since Kimmie's 2006.
    Silver, Sasha's 2005.
    Bronze, Sasha's 2006.

Whichever the color would be, it will be greater than her winning GPF!

the excitement for yuna would be this ↓~

I sensed that she's taking this Worlds event particularly seriously because it is a real challenge for her, and I think she's enjoying that;)

Indeed, year 2010 has been an unbelievable year for the Queen. Olympic Champion, Time 100 Most Influential People in the World, Sportswoman of the Year, UNICEF Ambassador, etc. etc.

And I believe Yuna will be ready to give another unforgettable performance when March comes! Can't wait till the Worlds!

I think she'll be able to win with even a forgettable performance. I wish that wasn't so, Yunah is not my favourite. But who can beat her? Mao (who is my favourite) is reinventing herself and appears to be out for the season as a serious competitor. Alissa (another favourite of mine) is unlikely to beat even a forgettable Kim. Miki is not in Yunah's class. Who's left to challenge her?
  18. Karpenko

    Karpenko Not Impressed.

A healthy, Olympic-shape Mirai would give her a run for her money.

I've really taken a liking to Yu-Na these past 2 years, I wish her well. :)

I wouldn't disregard Alissa (if she's there) as when she's on the judges love her. Rightly so too (in my opinion) I might add.

modern_muslimah Thinking of witty user title and coming up blank

The difference between Yu-Na and the others is that they all had feedback on their programs. They know what levels they'll get on their spins and footwork and how to make them better. The GPS is the time for skaters to get the kinks out of their programs.

I know Yu-Na was in her own class for two years but even for a skater of her caliber, I think she should get some type of feedback on her programs in a competitive format before competing at Worlds. Plus, with the rule changes this season, I definitely think she should at least go to 4CC.

I wouldn't count out Miki, Alissa or any of the other skaters who have performed well this season. The ice is always slippery.

I wouldn't count out Alissa or Miki. They can both put up big numbers when they skate well.

Please do not assume that Alissa will even be competing at Worlds. She may of course, but we don't know that at this point.

Hopefully one day the truth about the Brian/Yu-Na thing will surface - and a very different picture will be painted than the one thrown around in the media.
