I don't have a lot but so far I have:

    Sephora (of course!)

I don't have an iPhone, but I would still recommend one of these: http://maketecheasier.com/useful-iphone-locator-apps/2011/04/25

I would also recommend checking out some of these security apps: http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Security/1...Protect-Your-iPhone-iPad-from-Hackers-492794/

The more stuff you have on your phone, the more you need to be able to track it down, lock it up or wipe your data remotely should you lose your phone or have it stolen. It's also good to have everything backed up.

I have the Android versions of some of the apps on this list and find them very useful: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/the-20-most-useful-iphone-apps-of-2011/57556

A lot depends on what you use your phone for, but for me, Evernote, Dropbox, and a to-do list app that syncs with lists on other devices (I use Remember the Milk, which I think isn't fully available for iPhone) are essential. TripIt is sometimes useful. A barcode scanner like ShopSavvy can be useful; a lot of stores now use their own barcodes so you can't do price comparisons (I am looking at YOU, Best Buy), but it's nice when it does work.

TIME Magazine has a list of what it considers the top 50 iPhone apps: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2044480_2043594,00.html

I have quite a few of those. Some of the ones I use most: Pandora, Pulse, Nook, Kindle, Facebook, Yelp, Weather Channel, Epicurious, erm, probably some others. I don't see it listed there, but I like HelloVino for help selecting wine.

I also have quite a few apps I don't use but just had to have :shuffle:.

I have over 200 apps, most of them I use for work (on my iPad). The ones I use the most, aside from the ones I use in sessions, are Pages (that synchs on iCloud), Air Video, Evernote, Sugarsync, ShopShop, Facebook, Beijing Subway, Dictionary, Chinese<->English Dictionary, Instagram, Hipstamatic, What's App, Flipboard, auspost, Target Weight, P Tracker lite, Calculator, CashTrails, Kindle and XE Currency Exchange.

In my Newsstand I have fitness magazine, National Geographic for Kids, Self, Parents, Gourmet Traveller, GoodFood, NYT, Good Housekeeping, Disney Family Fun, Martha Stewart Living, Better Homes and Gardens, and The Australian Women's Weekly - all free stuff only!

I actually hardly use any on my phone now that I have an iPad. I use my phone only to quickly scan stuff like emails and FB, not to reply. I use it to check things quickly only.

    My useful Apps:
    - Wikipedia
    - Weather Channel
    - HopStop (this was especially appreciated when I was on vacation in San Francisco this fall; I didn't even need to get one of SF's elusive bus maps)
    - Netflix
    - Pandora
    - Shazam
    - Amazon
    - NFL (for live game updates and other articles)

    - Bouncy Seed! I absolutely love this.
    - Minesweeper

    Random Amusement:
    - Talking Tom: There's two free versions, and Talking Tom 2 is the better one.
    - Talking Santa

I don't have tons of apps, but the ones I use most often are:

    Angry Birds (all 3 versions)
    Starbucks mobile card
Xfinity TV (I can change the channel with my phone!)
aSleep (I love sleep apps in general)

I love WhatsApp, because I can talk to my friends in Colombia that way. Otherwise, I have stupid games that I can't stop playing: Unblock Me, Words With Friends, Word Search, 7 Little Words, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja.....

I did NOT need to know that there are apps for these games.
You should check out the app for Smallworld. I love all those board games, and Smallworld would be a forth for me on that list, and I see that there is an app for it too.

I don't have many games on mine. I love the practical apps, like Yellow Pages, Bas Buddy, Blood Alcohol Calculator. Oh, and turning the phone into a level is quite nifty.

And Redshift! I am something of an amateur astronomer.
  12. Spinner

    Spinner Where's my book?

The two most used apps on my iphone are Tweetlist (THE best Twitter client!) and my most favorite--Around Me. It quickly uses GPS to locate anything near you. It's searchable, then maps out what you find, THEN gives you routes to get there. All free!

Thanks, guys! As a result of reading your posts I've added:

    Camera Plus
    NHL GameCenter

Wanted to download the app that finds a defibrillator but that seems to be only available in France.

Am kinda tempted to download Fruit Ninja--love making fruit salad. :shuffle:

    Thanks again. :)
Oh I would definitely want these. What's the level one called?

Also Instagram, another free camera app in which you can have fun altering your photos to look vintage.

SitorSquat- locates the nearest public restroom to your location
Inrix - traffic locator tells you if the road is slow, bumper to bumper, where accidents are etc.
Flashlight - turns your camera flash into a flashlight
Gas buddy - lowest gas prices near your location
Amazon - for scanning barcode to see if an item in a store is cheaper on Amazon
Tidegraph and Windfinder - for boaters
Wine notes - can take a picture of a wine label and store it

    Have to add Gas Buddy!
  19. Spinner

    Spinner Where's my book?

A bit o/t but...I find it rather silly to seek out gas stations with lower prices. If you actually do the math: you found a station that's 5 cents cheaper for example. A 10 gallon fill-up saved you 50 cents. Unless you know one is significantly cheaper (say, 20+ cents), then it's just not worth it.

You have good taste in games. Add Catan and that's pretty much my list ;)

I am about to get a car with Diesel so I need to know which stations will have it.

A good reason for the app, then. :) Glad you're enjoying your phone so far! I know mine has become part of my physical person. ;)

    Lara It's JJ style!

    Some of my used apps:

Air Video - you can set it up to play videos from your computer and it'll live convert if it's not an iPhone compatible format.

Camera+ and Instagram for sharing photos.

TuneIn Radio and KDFC Classical (which I'm sure IceAlisa must lurve too) for music along with Pandora.

XfinityTV for sure if you have Comcast (if not chances are your provider has an app)

Reference stuff includes Dictionary, Wikipedia and Wolfram Alpha

Yelp, Zagat, UrbanSpoon for restaurants (I also suspect newcomer Oink gets lots of hits in SF)

Photon Flash web browser for IceNetwork ;)

Social Networking - Twitter for iPhone, Facebook, Foursquare, Skype

Kindle + Nook apps for books

Dropbox for easy access to documents on your computer

Yahoo Sportacular Pro - I use this for Canadiens hockey game alerts

Banking app - just search for whichever one you use. On that note, do make sure to have some level of security - in particular enable Find My Phone and remote wipe access and make sure you don't have an easily guessed password. If so you should be fine.

News apps - I have BBC News, CNN, AP, NPR, WSJ, Bloomberg but again, search for what you want to read.

Games: Aside from Angry Birds check out Cut The Rope and Fruit Ninja.

Accuweather and The Weather Channel for sure.

Sleep Cycle alarm and Nike GPS+

Navigon or TomTom if you'd like turn by turn GPS for the car.

Not sure what medical apps you'd use but check out Epocrates and Skyscape.

    Hope that helps! :)

You can watch the Ice Network on it? I HAVE to get this, especially knowing that I will away both from computer/TV on both Fri and Saturday nights. Friggin office parties getting in the way of my figure skating enjoyment. :mitchell:

Thanks everyone. Adding iHandy (I am not handy AT ALL but hubby would love this) and the KDFC one, thanks to Lara. I have to dig up my Epocrates account too. Wheeeeeeee!!!

Downloaded Photon Flash but the IN video will not open. What am I doing wrong?
  27. Lara

    Lara It's JJ style!

Did you click the icon to enable Flash? IIRC it's like a lightning bolt.

It won't be as good as on a laptop since it passes through an extra server for processing, but it's the best/only option atm.

In my area, there is often a .75c to $1 a gallon difference between stations depending on whether you turn right or left. This morning, if you came off the highway by my office and turned left, you'd pay $4.65 a gallon and if you turned right, you'd pay $3.75. But you can't see either one from the highway traffic light. Plus, when I am filling up my truck, it is a lot more than 10 gallons.

It also locates the gas station -- so when you are in a strange neighborhood and you come off the highway and have no idea where to find gas, it maps them for you.
