Where is Tessa's hairline? Something about that picture looks odd.
Kateanderson tweets: Tessa and Scott are so fierce. I cannot. Choreo lift at the end of the FD has been changed. https://twitter.com/kateanderson
https://twitter.com/jm_thayer "Virtue and Moir with Carmen - new choreo lift. Wilder looking but less difficult entry."
Cant wait to see this new choreo lift
Yes, this look odd.
Thank you so much for the news! Sounds good - and really intriguing . Can't wait to see it and the changed SD.
What is so odd about it? Look more carefully - it's a shadow on Tessa's forehead (which is natural, as Scott is leaning over her), not a hairline.
Yes, this is great!
I know. but look werid. I think photograhfers could choose better photo.
Excuse me, but does anybody have any info/description about the new lift in Carmen? I was going to try asking the tweeters, but wanted to check here first.
I'm curious about that too...
I didnt saw anything about this. Hope someone will post photo of this choreo lift soon.
Kate said it's wilder than the last one, I can't wait to see it.
Me too. Two more days?
NOOOOOOOO i loved that lift
and i loved the entry
I did too, but they had problems with it. I think it's for the best and I'm hopeful about the new one. Also I hope they took out the leg kick Tessa does.
i think they just needed to practice it more. they should've changed the other choreographic lift instead it was awkward
they prolly got fed up with all the immature assholes calling it #publiccunnilingus
There is only one choreographic lift in the FD. The one at the end and that is the one it appears they changed. They weren't getting good GOE on that lift and as much as I liked it artistically I felt by GPF it was time to revisit and come up with another idea. I don't think you can make that original lift move more, I think that's as good as anyone would get that but the judges didn't seem to see the worth in it. I also think after the dynamic, exciting lift that precedes it the flow of the ending of the program was affected negatively. It was a great idea, very innovative, but it wasn't working for them with the judges and some viewers.
i thought this was the choreographic lift
eta: this one http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdskqqs01S1qd7n4so5_250.gif
No, the one you posted is the first "standard" lift. The choreographic lift was introduced this year, it has to be performed after the other 3 (or 4) - therefore towards the end of the program - and it is not assigned any levels, just GOE.
I agree with Bmcg: although it was a great idea, they needed to change it.
Rainbow, I was talking about the last lift in the FD (where Tessa is standing on Scott). There's a video on TSN called the Allure of Carmen http://video.tsn.ca/?dl=figure_skating/latest/1/0/846912/clip/254. I haven't seen it yet.
I just watched it on my iPhone; Jennifer Swan makes an appearance also Sandra Bezic, Debbie Wilkes, Katarina Witt and there might have been others. Tessa says they didn't set out to make a sexy program, but if that's what people take out of it, then great (not word for word, but that's the gist).
im so confused
the choreographic lift is the one where tessa is standing on scott? all this time i thought it was this http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mci0l5L7CD1qhf86vo10_r3_250.gif
Nope, it's the very last one. I would be very very disappointed if they got rid of the lift (great gif btw) you just posted too, but it's not that one.
I loved that. Nice editing, on the beat of the music... Great to see Jennifer Swan interviewed.
V/M's choreographic lift in Carmen would be this one. Am I correct?
Choreographic lift is always the last of all the lifts.
then its good they edited the entry i guess. it looked too contrived and scott looked like he is in pain. but i always thought he was just portraying his character.
Yes. That's the one.
I liked the idea behind the lift as if it represented the struggle between the two characters as they were pulled in opposite directions. I can see that lift on the floor in modern dance and I think Tessa and Scott did an admirable go of bringing it to the ice but I think this is one of the areas Swan means when she says how challenging it is putting modern dance movement on blades and ice. Great idea but not all great ideas can be moved from one medium to the next.
Kate Anderson says that the new SD is great; there's a new beginning and ending. She also says it's Tessa and Scott being Tessa and Scott--I'm not sure what that means.
It means that it's them doing what they do best. No characters involved, just them.

That was fantastic. I miss seeing detailed fluff pieces like that on US television, lol.
