V&M/D&W choreography question

    Cherub721 YEAH!

Now that we know both V&M and D&W are officially staying with Marina, I was trying to figure out which of their FDs she choreographed and which were done by Igor. My two favorite programs from D&W are Die Fledermaus and Samson & Delilah, which I know were both Marina, so that's a positive. My favorite V&M FD is Pink Floyd, but I'm not sure who did that one.

I think switching to Marina exclusively could be good for D&W, but I'm not sure about V&M.... I like their romantic FDs but I don't want them to get pigeonholed more than they are already perceived to be.

Please help correct me/fill in the blanks. If anyone has info about ODs/SDs, that would be great too. :)

    Virtue & Moir
    2005 Tango - Igor?
    2006 Malaguena - Igor?
    2007 Valse Triste - Marina
    2008 Umbrellas - Marina?
    2009 Pink Floyd - ?
    2010 Mahler - Marina
2011 Latin - I think it was Marina
    2012 Funny Face - Marina

    Davis & White
    2007 Polovetsian - ?
    2008 Eleanor Rigby - ?
    2009 Samson & Delilah - Marina
    2010 Phantom - ?
    2011 Tango - Igor?
    2012 Die Fledermaus - Marina

I have some very strong guess based on the style of the "choreography" for each program (2007-2010 are all *clearly* Zueva, although ER may have started out as Shpilband), but I won;t elaborate as it seems your looking for proof and not wild speculation. ;)

    Cherub721 YEAH!

I too suspect that Marina did D&W from 2007-2010, but confirmation would be nice yes. ;) I think the 2011 FD was Shpilband because it's a tango and it has far more difficult transitions than their other dances (and transitions are not Marina's thing - sometimes I wonder how she lives with herself charging her pairs and singles just for placing elements and crossovers to the music). But it seems weird and random that Igor would choreograph one FD for them and Marina all others.

I think @Phantom@ was made by Marina. From other hand, Shpilband worked on Phanton with D-V and C-B before 2010....
But i remeber in inteview Marina said at first time only she and Charlie like this idea.

And i think you must to add ODs. 2010 D-W OD were something unusuall and cool and was made by Marina.
But i think with PF, Latin dance, Bolywood and Farrucas this team had big inside input. They worked with off-ice choreograhfers.

I definitely read that D&W worked with a specialist on the Bollywood. I believethat V&M did also for their flamenco. Anna Trebunskaya of Dancing with the Stars worked with all the couples this year for the SD, and I wouldn't be surprised if V&M contacted someone when choreographing their 2011 FD either. Marina and Igor seemed to be much more comfortable consulting outsiders for ODs/SDs. They also contacted Tchaikovskaya to work on CDs.

Who do you think was the outside choreographer for Pink Floyd?

I recall seeing photos of Anna T. working with the Detroit SC dance teams last summer? I believe Elena Grinenko worked with several of the Canton teams this past season, while Corky Ballas worked with the Shibutanis.

    Cherub721 YEAH!

You're right. There's an article here about Anna working with the Detroit SC. I was confusing it with this article, in which she ranks 5 dance teams, including the Shibs, D&W, and V&M.

And Elena Grinenko and Corky Ballas did indeed work with the Canton team(s).

During an interview at the 2011 Worlds, Tessa mentioned they had worked with a ballroom dancer and coach from the Detroit area, Louis Soma.

I think Corky Ballas worked with S-S, not with other teams.
And D-W worked with ballroom dancers for Tango FD.
