    Sylvia Still recovering from Worlds...

No need to apologize, IMO -- it's confusing when there's a skater- or team-specific thread in the Trash Can and there is "real news" that belongs in GSD like Virtue/Moir's official withdrawal from Canadians.

Maybe this thread can be merged with the other V/M thread in GSD and the thread title revised to reflect their withdrawal from Canadians and TBD for 4CC/Worlds? http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=76446&page=6

I assumed, since some people aren't V/M fans (like me), that it'd be better to give it its own thread.

Thanks -- and I hope that their recovery continues. I don't know that it necessarily puts them out of Worlds, but that is sounding less likely.

No problem, it's actually up to 3 threads I think scattered in different forums ;) .

Don't they need to qualify through Canadians first; or does winning World gold give them direct entry / a medical bye?

I usually have a problem with petitioning to teams but I think its clear that Tessa and Scott have earned their spots. Even though they have been out of competition, they are the reigning Olympic and World Champions, which will put them in a much better light with judges than a rising Canadian team. I hate to bring this up but I also think of it like Michelle Kwan circa 2006 -- she was one of the reasons they had those spots in the first place.

I love Kaitlin Weaver and Andrew Poje's style. Hope they win at Canadians. They are so elegant. He's really tall, dark and handsome.

I am sad they are out because I was looking forward to seeing them again, but at this point I think the most important thing is that Tessa heals completely. IMHO they have nothing left to prove and it would be a shame if she sustained a permanent injury by getting back on the ice too early.

    Get well soon Tessa!

Unfortunately there's no GOE for tall, dark and handsome :)

Not unless GOE stands for Grade of Erec....

    ummm, never mind :slinkaway

Let's just say there's what I'd call "gay" GOE :)

Not surprised about the annoucement finally that V&M are skipping Canadians. I'm just waiting to see what happens the rest of the season.

As for C&P and W&P, in past years I would agree with you that it would/should be an exciting fight between the two for the gold but I think C&P will take the title. They have and excellent FD this season (technically difficult and interesting artistically) and will probably even win the OD as long as they skate well. Even though I prefer W&P's OD, they still haven't seemed to master consistency on a regular basis. IMO even if Kaitlyn and Andrew win the OD, Vanessa and Paul will win overall based on the strength of their FD.

I agree. I haven't really been a fan of C&P, but their FD this season changed that. It's really fabulous, and I can't wait to see it get better as the season progresses.

I adore W&P, but I don't think they stand a chance this year.
  19. Really

Really I need a new title

I'm sorry that Virtue and Moir will be missing Cdns, but like mag said, it's probably much better to give her more healing time, and give the team more prep time in their bid to be ready for Worlds. I hope it all goes well for them!

In the meantime, I will be cheering for both Weaver & Poje, and Crone & Poirier -- may the best team win!

Not surprising to me- I would rather see Tessa and Scott work up to the highest level of skating possible before debuting their programs. But I was hoping to get a glimpse of their new FD, crossing my fingers it'll be much more thrilling than their past programs.

So now they're going head to head with D/W in their first competition of the year!! Intense.

Do you really think so? I think this will only happen if Tessa and Scott decide to also skip Four Continents and go directly to Worlds. Given the location of Four Continents and the USFSA's track record I am going to be surprised if Meryl and Charlie decide to go there.

I think D-W dont need 4CC, because they have a lot off competitions this season, programs must be polished and they onle need to take this all easy and save there good shape untill WCh. But they talk in interwie about there Asia tour.....

I don't think it much matters how they do head to head at Four Continents, i.e. a win there won't give either team an advantage at Worlds. If Tessa and Scott lose it will be seen in part as due the the fact that they haven't had as much mileage on their programs. If both teams show up at Worlds looking well trained they will be judged on what they put forward then, not on past performances.

This is exactly how I feel as well. I've never been a fan of C&P's FD's but their team has outdone themselves this year.

Overall I still prefer Kaitlyn and Andrew as a team but they need to go back to the drawing board or something to figure out why they have consistency issues. Even if they had a FD that was equal or better than C&P's it wouldn't matter if they can't get through it cleanly. I'm still hoping that they can finally do that at Canadians even if they do place second.

I'm hoping for clean strong skate from Tessa and Scott as well no matter where they place the rest of the season. I will admit to hoping for a "miracle" ending to this season for them. That or P&B pulling an upset. I won't count on it though (especially not P&B).

Kaitlyn and Andrew have the wow factor IMO, partly because they are such a beautiful looking pair. But they don't have the same level of skills that C&P will, and probably never will.

At best, they could be like Wing and Lowe, a good-looking team you love to watch regardless of where they rank in the world standings. But Wing and Lowe skated because they loved it, and they have a lovely connection with each other. Don't know that W& P can replicate that.
