So who are, or should be, in the running for the US's 3rd ladies' spot?

I'm assuming Wagner and Gold will remain in their top spots after '14 Nationals.
I like Gao, but haven't followed her closely so don't know her strengths/weaknesses well.

Zawadski and Czisny seem too inconsistent to rely on.

    Other ideas?

Gao seems to be the top pick if they want consistency.

Gao or Nagasu, depending on how each skates at the 2013 nationals.

Gao is more consistent, but if Nagasu skates her best, she can easily beat Gao. That is a big 'if' however.

Gao is the favorite for the 3rd spot Agnes is in the mix but can't seem to get it done in the LP. Nagasu has sadly peaked while Hicks has issues with her overall skating but she has big jumps so is a threat. I hope someone Like Wang makes a run for the 3rd spot she has a lot of potential if she can stop killing herself in the SP. She needs to go Senior next season and get a GP event.

Hicks or Zawadski. Hicks needs more finesse and Zawadski needs to land jumps. Hicks could easily make podium at Nationals if she gets the finesse, as she already has the technical goods.

Gao or Zawadzki is most likely by far. Hicks would be the next most likely. I will be extremely surprised if it is either Nagasu or Czisny, and give them both lower odds than all those I already named.

I thought there was a poll for this, not so long ago.

Hicks has the best chance since she has big jumps and is very consistent, and her artisticness is good too.

Yes, I posted the link to the thread earlier: The Third US lady (where the discussion took off and is at 157 posts)

(This thread originally was started in Great Skate Debate and later was moved into the Trash Can by a mod.)

Hicks, Wang, or Edmunds, hopefully. Someone with the big jumps.

IDK, Something tells me that after all of Alissa's problems, she will have a better than expected season next year. She was attacking her LP at the Milwaukee competition just before her disastrous 3flip which ended her season.

I could see you being right but the question is does a better than expected season translate to the Olympic team. Not neccessarily. I doubt she will be a USFSA favorite any longer given all that has transpired since. Had there been only 2 spots I think her chances would have been nothing, but with a 3rd spot she might have a fighting chance as they can afford to send a wild card as the 3rd lady to the Games (and even then they might send someone else to Worlds, and just send her to the Games alone). She will have to skate exceptionally well though, 2011 Nationals like to even have a chance though IMO.
