Well, I thought she was pretty darn expressive already. Can't wait to see this when it has more miles on it!

It's lovely! All appropriate to the theme.

Can't wait to see her long program. She may be relaxed a bit now as there's some room for mistakes in the FS.

I guess some of the ladies feel their dreams slowly going down the drain. Of course, with this notice this far ahead of the Olympics, they do have the opportunity to up the ante.

Why did they have to insert that nude material in the neck line?

Her PCS is outrageous. She's really not that much better there than the rest of the field.

    3lz-3t, 3f, 3s, 3lz, 1a-1t-1lo, 3s-2t(fall), 2a, 129, total 201

Some mistakes in the 2nd half, but nicely done and a gorgeous program!

She just received 68.52 in her FP. I agree that is just too high.
She is good, but not that much better than anyone else. 68.52?

We have to wait and see how her PCS are scored in direct comparison to the other top skaters though ...
Anyway, congrats to Yuna on a great comeback!

I am loving her dress but :blah: on everything else, but I was never a fan of Yu Na and don't think she's all that artistic or pleasing to watch, despite her fabulous jumps.

Well let's compare her to Mao at the GPF. Yuna beat her by 2.13 pts in PCS.

    Yuna Kim
    Total: 129.34 TES: 60.82 PCS: 68.52

    Mao Asada
    Total: 129.84 TES: 63.45 PCS: 66.39

Yuna's combined score was 201.61 vs 196.80 for Mao. Yuna had a 3/3 in her short, so she seems to be judged fairly against the other top competitor and is not unbeatable. Others just need to up the technical ante in the SP.

I have given up on comparing scores from two different competitions, it hardly ever works ;) But thanks anyways for the numbers!
I meant we will have to wait until Yuna actually competes against the other top skaters in the same event. I personally don't think she deserves 2.13 pts more PCS than Mao. But again, NRW and GPF are two totally different events and settings.

ETA: Here are the protocols, she actually received 69.52: http://www.lev-nrw.org/lev2008/docs/event/1189/SeniorLadies_FS_Scores.pdf

Oh I know that, no one's a bigger Sonja Henie fan than me, no one.

And I knew somebody would take issue with what I stated. :D But I don't apologize. Sonja's on a completely different hemisphere than anyone else, thus why I stated what I did, and hold true to that statement. :hat1:'

Back to Yuna, this is a compliment to her. Even Michelle Kwan stated early on in her career, right before her first Olympics, that tieing Sonja Henie's record was definitely a possibility. Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way, she got ahead of herself, too overconfident at the time. Maybe Yuna will be the one, who knows? I'll be cheering her on though because to accomplish history is something in & of itself, especially one that has stood the test of time for so long. It's kinda like how Michael Phelps became the greatest Olympian of all time, in any sport.

ps: Evgeni Plushenko also has the opportunity to make history as well if he manages to capture a medal of any color (i.e. in singles or the team event or both) to tie Gillis Grafstrom with the most medals of any figure skater (4) at the Olympics. And if he manages (5) he will become the greatest figure skater in the history of the sport, man or woman or couple, period.

If Mao can bring back the 3a in SP only, they are neck and neck.

And if she can get rid of those UR problems. I really want to see this rivalry revive.

Yes, it will be very exciting! But Mao needs to land more jumps - her jump content of this season is very weak

I really love Yuna's new LP! It's so beautiful! :swoon: One of my favorite programs already. I don't know why, but her new program looks similar to Patrick's La Boheme (in a good way!).

    I agree.

I thought her SP was a total bore and sort of reminded me of why I'm so lukewarm to Kim. However, her LP is great and that's saying a lot because I usually don't like Les Miserables for figure skating.

Kims score is a total joke , there was absolutely nothing that could justify her score, for what she put out on the ice!

I really like this program :swoon:
It was a great performance after such a long time away from competition and I think she will be just fine by worlds.Good with a bit of stiff competition for the other ladies and I hope Yunas comeback will push them to do even better (technical wise)..

the PCS is only one out of many parts, that make her score outrages!

Am I the only person who doesn't really like the LP? The music cuts are not well done, and although the music is fine, but you know, it's Les Mis, as in it's going to sound beautiful no matter what. They aren't maximizing the music at all and Les Mis is that much more beautiful than that.

But yes, the SP is a real downer.
