How long is food good after the sell by date? I am referring to a stick of margarine. I know this has been discussed before but I don't remember the responses. Thanks!.

Without looking at the google answer, I would imagine margarine is good well past the sell date. Does it smell or have an odd texture? How long past the sell by date is it?

Sometimes it's hard to tell. I have bought milk and Half 'n Half that was bad a week before the sell date. But margarine is probably pretty safe, well beyond sell date :)

Your nose is your friend. Melt a bit and see if it has a rancid odor. If not, use and enjoy.

Eat By Date is actually a specialized search engine that searches for and stores information about foods and expiration dates.

Information on the site is considered reputable, so I think jkl would be safe going with what it says.

Thanks for the help. I am well within the dates on the Eat by Date website. Great resource by the way.
