The Zayak rule is doing 3 or more of the same jump.
She is allowed to repeat a jump as long as one is in combination.
She did 2a 3t, 3lo dt, 3s dt. Then each as a solo jump. Totally legal

Isn't the Zayak rule that no more than 2 types of triples may be repeated? To repeat them, they must be in combination, but you can't repeat more than 2 types of triples.

    http://static.isu.org/media/1001/tphb-singles-2016-2017.pdf (see page 14)

"Of all the triple and quadruple jumps only two (2) can be executed twice. If at least one of these executions is in a jump combination or a jump sequence, both executions are evaluated in a regular way. If both executions are as solo jumps, the second of these solo jumps will be marked with the sign “+REP” and will receive 70% of it’s original Base Value. Triple and quadruple jumps with the same name will be considered as two different jumps. No triple or quadruple jump can be attempted more than twice."

My assumption is that Skate Canada has chosen not to apply this rule to Novice events to encourage more triples being attempted and worked into programs.

Yes for Novice and down it is just the 1 repeated jump must be in combo. Carole also got a bonus for the triple jump as the second jump in the combo

When the scores were announced in the arena, they said that Carle's score was a Canadian record. Things are definitely looking up for our novice women :)

And I've got the dailymotion feed back up and running for the novice pair freeskate.

Hopefully all the lifts go up without any problems!

Aww, rough start to the free by Keara Harney--fall on stroking and then she totally got lost in the sbs spin.

Learning pairs skating is so hard.

    I enjoyed both Panetta/Lapointe and Andrew/Knott.

For a small guy, Lapointe was pretty secure on the lifts. And Andrew is a star in the making if she can stay small and get harder sbs jumps.
