Young YOU has won the 2016 Korean National Senior Ladies title with a total score of 183.75 (reportedly aged 11 years, 8 months).
1st in SP (61.09): SP Video
1st in FS (122.66): FS Video
This would make her ISU Junior age-eligible in 2017-18 and Senior age-eligible in 2019-20.

Da Bin Choi was second (177.29) and is age-eligible for 4CC/Worlds. So Youn Park (161.07) was 5th and I believe she is the next age-eligible skater for Worlds (Korea has 2 ladies' spots).

ETA: Third place went to Eun Soo LIM (175.97) and Ye Lim KIM was 4th (173.57). I read on Twitter that they are both 12 years old.

Senior Men medalists are June Hyoung Lee (223.72), Jin Seo Kim (202.48), and Jun Hwan Cha (189.98).

Results and videos are posted in the Kiss & Cry section: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...korean-nationals-jan-8-10.97500/#post-4673872

WOW! this girls is fantastic... she reminds me of Tara Lipinski!! As if she's 11. I cant imagine how good she will be when shes 16. Her jumping technique is phenomenal. Composition scores will grow with age and training.

Ye Ri KIM / Alex Kang Chan KAM were the only Junior Pair with the Jr. Worlds minimums for Korea but they did not compete at Nationals because (re-posting from the Korean Nationals thread in Kiss & Cry):
Alex and Yeri are no longer together. He has a new partner but I am unsure of her name. They were hoping to get to Nationals but as they've only been together 4 or 5 weeks, they weren't quite ready. They have programs and a throw 3 sal so I expect you will see them internationallly this year.
Alex Kam's video clip of his new partner landing a throw 3S in practice: https://www.instagram.com/p/BASzySEPv8y/

Min Ji JI & Themistocles Leftheris scored a total of 135.24 (46.07 SP, 89.17 FS) as the only Senior pair team at Nationals - link to their FS Video.

Very promising results for the ladies. I feel they are all just some better speed and polish away from GP medals.

Re-posting the news/article link (posted earlier in both the OES & O-4CC-S news threads) to this pertinent thread:
South Korea Olympic news.
The Korea Skating Union (KSU) said Thursday that Russian ice dancer Kirill Minov and American Alexander Gamelin will apply for Korean citizenship later this year in a bid to compete in the 2018 Winter Games.
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2016/04/663_202628.html
I wonder if Themi Leftheris will be able to apply as well? However, he has not yet competed internationally for Korea and Korea is developing young pair teams who have citizenship -- siblings Su Yeon KIM / Hyung Tae KIM & Kyu Eun KIM (new to pairs) / Alex Kang-Chan KAM (he debuted in Pairs last season with Ye Ri KIM on the JGP before they split). Kim/Kam 2 have yet to compete internationally.

Kyu Eun KIM (new to pairs) / Alex Kang-Chan KAM (he debuted in Pairs last season with Ye Ri KIM on the JGP before they split). Kim/Kam 2 have yet to compete internationally.

They competed internationally twice, Sarajevo Open 120.02 and Bavarian Open 102.98. If Sarajevo Open had another pair they would have got the minimums for JW, but since it didn't the score didn't count.

I'm looking forward to watching them on the junior circuit. This year and especially next year. I think it will likely take these young faces a season to develop confidence and stronger performance quality. But this generation of Korean skaters--the eleven & twelve-year-old athletes just breaking onto the JGP--is the first real post-Yuna generation. (Metaphorically similar to the 1991 & 1992 U.S. gymnastics teams--seven & eight years after Mary Lou's Olympic gold). These Korean girls were essentially five & six years old when Yuna won gold in 2010. Young enough to enter the sport at the same time as many of their major international peers. Making them the first large generation of Korean ladies skaters to enter the field on equal ground. If Korean Nationals last season is any indication, the jumps are there. I have no idea which athletes will persevere and rise to the top over the next six years. But the numbers are there, and Korea has clearly made a funding commitment in preparation for the upcoming Olympics. I think we could be in for a heck of a show.

Based on Asian Open Trophy, it appears that Jin Seo Kim and Da Bin Choi are a little more prepared at this point in the season over their domestic national rivals and June Hyoung Lee and So Youn Park.

Dabin will always be more competition ready than so youn, sorry to say. Not sure if she(Dabin) has it in her to make a big enough improvement on pcs, so long as she stays with her current coach chi. The current senior ladies are lucky the youngsters aren't age eligible for pyeongchang.
I really hope jin seo puts it together at nationals this season- he consistently outperforms june hyoung internationally, even if neither are very consistent at all.
Unless jun hwan gets ill or injured again, I can see him winning nationals this season.

ISU's ice dance training seminar is going to be held at the national training center on Aug 14-20. Fifty one skaters + coaches in total from ten countries (including Japan, China, Austria and Uzbekistan) are going to participate in the seminar. Maurizio Margaglio will be one of the instructors.
