For those suffering from skating withdrawal, the Victoria day competition in British Columbia is being live-streamed. It is at http://www.skatinginbc.com/. Click on the screen on the right-hand side of the screen, near the top.

It looks like the junior and senior competitors will start in about 1 1/2 hours.

If the past is any guide, this competition will likely be archived.

The performances are being archived. If you go to the screen on the right hand side, as above, then click on 'USTREAM' just to the left of where it currently says 'off air', a second window comes up which is the Ustream recording of this competition. The various competitors are listed on the right hand side of this screen; if you scroll down with the scroll bar, 'more videos' shows up, which allows you to to scroll through the various competitors' programs.

The skating quality is quite high for this time of the season, although as one might expect there were quite a few falls. Two skaters I particularly enjoyed were junior women Julianne Delaurier (novice bronze medallist at Canadians) and Jayda Jurome. They have both improved their skating skills and power significantly since I last saw them. Julianne has grown significantly, which contributes to her increased power. Jayda's fall on the double axel is a bit painful to watch, but she apparently took it in stride.

Schedule is here. The novice skaters start at 2:25 PM Pacific time today, and the junior skaters start at 6:35 PM Pacific time.
