Yesterday Daisuke Takahashi, Nobunari Oda and Tatsuki Machida appeared in the ceremony at Kansai University since they were awarded College President Prize. They were interviewed by Boom Sports which is a free paper for Kansai Univ. students.

    (my rough translation)

Interview 1: Daisuke Takahashi "I'll not participate in competitions in the next season"

--You are awarded College President Prize.
Takahashi: I feel very honored since it's not easy to be awarded this prize."
Oda: I'm truly grateful to be awarded this prize even though the results in this season was not my very best.
Machida: I'm honored to be awarded the wonderful prize. I'll do my best to be a person good enough to be awarded this prize.

--What about the talk show you in front of the students?
Takahashi: I was a bit nervous in front of the student but I really enjoyed it.
Oda: The awards ceremony was solemn but the atmosphere changed a lot in the talk show. I enjoyed it very much.
Machida: I was happy since I thought it was professors' privilege to talk on the stage in front of the students. I enjoyed it a lot. It was like one-day-internships.

---Earlier today you said you want to take a rest for a season and consider(your career),when you were interviewed by TV crew.
Takahashi: I haven't decided the clear dead line. I want to take an enough rest for approximately one year.

    --How about ice shws?
Takahashi: It depends on my physical conditions. I'll participated in the invited shows, when I feel I'm OK to skate in front of the audience. I don't have any concrete plan so far.

--Do you have any plan to train out of Japan for the preparation of the next season?
Machida: As for choreos, yes. But my base rink will be in Osaka.

    --How about graduation?
Takahashi: Well..(laugh). I'm absent from school this year. It might be next year.
Oda: I'm going to submit my master's thesis for graduate school this year. I'm preparing for it now.

--Do you have any plan to enter the graduate school?
Machida; I have thoughts but can't announce anything here.

--What kind of thesis is it going to be?
Oda: My thesis will be on coaching from educational point of view. My point will be on desirable coaches' attitude and advice. It won't be on technical side.

--You are going to take a rest. Do you have any plan for the next season?
Takahashi: I won't compete in the next season. I decided it inside of me. I will not participate in any competition."

    --How did you decide it?
Takahashi: I didn't think I was going to decide whether I continue or not in the short time after finishing Sochi Olympics. I haven't decided so far. I've just started training. I don't think I'll be well prepared for the next season. It will be better for me to take an enough rest and think (about the future) being away from the competitions."

--So in the next season you'll train, skate in shows and what else?
Takahashi: I have various thoughts. But I don't have any concrete plan now. Anyway I won't appear in public often for a year.

--Do you have any private plan?
Thakahashi: Nothing (laugh). As for my private life, I feel rush.

--Do you have any advice for him, Oda-san?
Oda: Advice about how to find a partner? I think he can find a partner very soon. I don't think he really feels rush. It would be nice if he'll have a partner. But I don't take it serious. If he really wants a partner, he'd better try for real. You can't get good result if you don't work with your whole heart. But he doesn't need to force himself to find a partner right now, since it is the time for him to do things which he really wants to do.
    Takahashi: Thank you very much(laugh).

--As for your various thoughts. Are you thinking about studying for the preparation of your future?
Takahashi: Well, I take studying into my consideration to build up my future. Anyway I want to take time to face myself as well as to think what I have to do.

--Did anything around you change after winning a medal in Worlds, Machida-san?
Machida: Winning a silver medal didn't stay long in my mind. I feel it was long ago. I skated in lots of shows since then. But it is true that the medal gave me self-confidence. I'm proud of being a Worlds medalist and it encourages me when I'm in hard time, when I'm almost giving up something or when I failed in delivering the program I was aiming at. But very few times. The medal is in the bottom of the corrugated carton inside of my mind. I'm not very much aware of it in my daily life. Well, I heard my medal will be shown in the Kansai Univ Museum. I'm pretty much honor of it, though. If I'm satisfied with it, I might stop improving. I'll go forward leaving my good results behind in the next season. I want to keep improving aiming at higher level.

    photos from the awards ceremony:

photos from playbacks(Daisuke and Nobu were awarded the same prize in the Vancouver Olympics season)

Today they posted articles of the talk show which was held after the awards ceremony. Students worked as MC and the show was in the relaxed mood. Do you want to read them?
