My first thought was :drama: for applying for post-Olympic Worlds. But then I realized that it could very well be both Laura & Kiira's farewell competition, so it'd actually be quite fabulous!

I thought Japan was getting that, or am I mistaken?

2014 Worlds would be the next one available for Japan, and they might be interested in it as it could be the farewell competition of some of their top skaters as well. If they apply, I'm sure they'll get it.

There was an article with a Cinquanta interview where he encouraged Japan to apply for the 2015 worlds. 2015 worlds would be more desirable, I suppose. I don't have the link.

That would be exactly 15 yrs since Finland last held Worlds. It's been a long time. I hope they get it!

YAY! Good luck to Helsinki! :cheer2:

I always love the post-Olympic worlds. The stress of the Olympics is over and we usually see some first-time chapions. :)

According to the JSF director Ito, they are considering to bid for 2014 or 2015 in Tokyo.

There should be many merits and demerits considerations. The post-Olympic worlds are usually downers lacking some strong contenders and overall motivations. Such situations could be desirable for home skaters to take advantages though, they may prefer 2015 because that would make them more influential on post-Olympic rule changes.

If Japan applies for 2014, then I hope Finland applies for 2015 and gets it.

I heard that Stockholm is applying for Euros 2014, in that case we could get both Euros and Worlds in Euros yay:D:D:D (but I don't think I can afford to go both places...)

Good luck to Finland in their bid for 2014 Worlds. I would love to attend and visit my Finnish in-laws afterwards.

Finland didn't withdraw, they had an ISU meeting today and Japan got the Worlds.

    Good for Japan. :)

Finland will probably apply for 2015 and has a good chance to get them, I think. At least it'll most likely be somewhere in Europe since the two previous years are Canada and Japan.

I wonder whether the U.S. is going to bid for 2015 or 2016 worlds, or are they going to wait for the pre-Olympics worlds in 2017 just like Canada did with the 2013 worlds? We know that Finland will bid again, but will Great Britain or Germany bid for worlds again? What about China, which has hosted Cup of China, 2 Grand Prix Finals, and 2003 Four Continents, but has never hosted worlds?
