This fundraising event is taking place at Wollman Rink in NYC's Central Park today (April 5, 2010). Johnny, Tanith, and Jeremy have tweeted that they will be attending. I was really impressed with the Olympic-themed synchro number performed by the FSiH skaters at a recent benefit show and hope a lot of $$$ will be raised to continue supporting this very worthy program! :)

Now, now boys. I'm sure a strong hunk of man like Chris Meloni could take you both on. Threesome!;)

In their Today Show interview this morning Meryl & Charlie put in a nice plug for this education/skating program and mentioned that Tanith is on the board.

Can anyone explain to me what this event actually was?

It was a fund-raising event where those attending could skate on the same ice with the competitive skaters and also bid for auction items. I'm assuming that there was an admission fee/ticket -- Monday's event raised over $300,000 for Figure Skating in Harlem, whose students also performed at the event.

    :) Peacemaker.

But no pics of Meloni's co-star, Tamara Tunie? Isn't she on the Board of Directors for this event? Have any of these young women entered competitive skating?

As Sylvia mentioned in the first post, it was a fundraiser for the Figure Skating in Harlem program. It is an annual event where elite skaters and other celebrities skate at Wollman Rink with the program participants. I'm not sure how much tickets cost for the general public - invite on website just says to call their office.

Oh but Rexie, you know that I used to work out with him when I lived in NYC? I already have the inside track. Besides, I'm more of a Beechner than you ever could be... :)

I recall seeing a photo of Tunie -- check the Lifeskate and/or Icenetwork gallery photo links earlier in this thread.
I don't know for sure, but it doesn't sound like competitive singles skating is a focus of this program, though a synchro team and ISI testing are both mentioned -- for more info on the skating part of the FSH program, go to: http://www.figureskatinginharlem.org/our-program/the-program.php
