Not exactly zoo animals - so my apologies if this is highjacking - has anyone else been enjoying the various live feeds of the bald eagle hatchings in Florida? For the past week, I have seen almost daily live feeds on Facebook from NBC News/CNN/Fox News/Weather Channel/etc. The first eaglet hatched on Saturday and the second egg has begun to break and they believe will hatch very soon.

Love these portraits of animals from endangered species by Nat Geo photographer Joel Sartore
He really captures their personality.
Beautiful creatures! Endangered species...ugly words though. But it's funny how the photo of those people in the ad popped up in there and I thought he was making a statement about mankind's existence as well. It could very well be. Careful, mankind.

some great pics of birds in urban settings, on the Audobon site

Love the birds in urban settings
So do I, but I often wonder just how those birds in the traffic lights ever get any sleep? It's like having neon signs flashing in our windows at regular intervals all day and all night...everyday and every night!
ETA: Especially after the pics of birds in urban environments, I thought this article about a burrowing owl in an LA schoolyard was interesting.
That second eagle egg still has not hatched yet.
