Just saw that too. Wasn't it rather sudden? I hadn't heard about him being sick, but then, I guess they don't report it every time a famous person comes down with pneumonia.

    Poor Julie. :(

    R.I.P.

For those, like me, who didn't know who this is to save you time googling- he was a director/producer famous for Breakfast at Tiffany's and Pink Panther.

Oh, no. :( I knew he was getting along, but I had no idea he was ill. I've always loved BaT, and although Victor/Victoria was mostly OTT, it had some great moments as well. Never cared much for the Pink Panther movies.

He and Julie Andrews were such a classy couple. She is another favorite of mine, and what with the loss of that marvelous singing voice of hers and now the death of her husband, I hope she'll be able to overcome these hardships.

For me, his greatest movie was S.O.B. Sheer brilliance!

Thank you for adding this- I knew I had heard the name before, but I didn't recognize it.

taf, you're the only other person I know of who has even heard of that movie. I laughed so hard I had two asthma attacks watching that movie for the first time.

I still remember Julie Andrews' boob-baring scene with great fondness. The only scene of gratuitous nudity that I've ever loved.

:fragile:. Flawed as it was, I enjoyed Breakfast at Tiffany's. I loved Experiment in Terror and The Days of Wine and Roses.

Mom hadn't heard this, so I was just telling her, and telling her that Julie was his wife, and she said something very true...

Too true and my heart and thoughts go out to her and the Family right now. :(

Sincerest condolences to Julie and their blended family. :(

Thanks, Blake and Henry Mancini - if for nothing else, for "Moon River" and "Crazy World" - touching, simple sequences of lovely singing by 2 fair ladies.

I loved his honorary Oscar speech: ""My father thanks you, my mother thanks you, the beautiful English broad with the incomparable soprano and the promiscuous language thanks you, and I sure as hell thank you."

RIP, Mr. Edwards. Thanks for the laughs.
