In the Worlds which was hosted in Moscow, Patrick Chan (Canada) won the "Worlds Champion" for the first time as for Men and Miki Ando (Toyota Motor) came back to the "Worlds Champion" after interval of 4 seasons as for Ladies. However, both were divided in trend aiming at 2014 Sochi Olympics. Namely, Men accelerated toward the quad age but Ladies somewhat remained under stagnation in skill aspect.

Chan who was the 5th place in 2010 Vancouver Olympics won the championship in Men with 280.98 points of the highest score in history.
He made quad Toeloop succeed once in short program and made it succeed twice also in free skating. Silver medalist Takahiko Kozuka (Toyota Motor) also nailed it once in short program, but, under the result below the large margin which is near 23 points to Chan, he has a feeling of crisis, saying "I think that I should put the quad jump also in SP next season and I would like to get to be able to jump even several kind of quad jump".

As for Ando in Ladies, she did not challenge the two consecutive triple jumps combination, but the level of the completion of the performance became her weapon. As for the two powers in Ladies till last season, Yu-Na Kim (Korea) has the blank that she came back after an interval of one year, and Mao Asada (Chukyo University) is in the process of the correction of the skill. We may be able to say that there was not the existence which can defeat both players except Ando. 7 players except Yu-Na Kim attempted the two consecutive triple jumps combination, but what all of them attempted was the triple Toeloop (3T+3T) which is lowest in difficulty level.
    (Translator’s note: Only Yu-Na Kim attempted 3Lz+3T)

Because the rule as for the lack of rotation was relaxed from this season, the challenge to the difficulty jump got easy to do. Making the best use of that revision, 20 years old Chan who is excellent on the skill of skating got the skill level of Men high. Aiming at the Sochi Olympics after three years, the rise of new generation is waited also as for Ladies.
