    Hi All,

After attending my first ice dancing weekend this weekend (thank you Toronto!) I am inspired to continue attending adult ice dance/freeskate weekends or camps. Does anyone know of any upcoming ones, or has had experience attending any?

There is also the Edward G Picken Pro-Am Dance Classic, held June 10-12, 2011, at Skatequest Reston, Virginia.

It has quite a few events for dancers of all ages to compete skating with their coaches.

The test-level events start with Pre-Bronze and go through International dances. Each test level is split out into age groups, roughly based on the US Figure Skating Adult age groupings, plus groupings for those under age 21.

There are also Open Dance events for dancers to compete with a non-coach partner or with coach as partner. And there are also Class IV Open Dance events, which are age-restricted for dancers age 50 and over skating with a partner or with coach.

Finally, there are events for eligible dance teams, in levels from Pre-Juvenile to Senior. These events will include Pattern Dance, Short Dance and Free Dance (as specified for each level of eligible dance competition).

The announcement is posted on the Washington FSC website (http://www.wfsc.net )

The Edward G Picken Pro-Am Dance Classic is now in something like its 18th year and going strong.

One of my favorite dance weekends is Motown in Detroit. Usually the 20-something of June. They have added a mini camp for free skaters, last year Alyssa taught us spins, along with her sister. The parties are the best part and skating at DSC is awesome. They also have a test session on Sunday!

Motown has unfortunately been postponed this year until June 2012. Too bad - I was looking forward to it.

    Deadline to register is 5/13.
