I was at the Ottawa show yesterday and would have to agree that it is better than last year's show.
I did miss having a dance team, although I thoroughly enjoyed the pairs teams.
I think the opening to the second act was my favourite, and the one foot skating by the men in that number was quite impressive.
I have to say though, that as much as I have always been an Elvis fan, when you stack him up against Browning/Buttle/Chan, his programs are so empty.

Didn't Elvis step away from the skating world for several years though? I don't think it's really fair to compare a guy who semi retired from skating and is attempting a comeback to a guy who has been actively skating and performing his whole life without a gap.

I did not write it just for the sake of comparing, although, admittedly, it came out that way. It was more in response to princeton123 saying that Stojko is "like 50" and (therefore) "30 years past his prime". I just wanted to give Browning as an example of a 50 or so years old skater who can still do quite a lot on ice.

I think you got everything! The only things I noticed missing were the fact Kurt closed out his medley in the 2nd act with "I Feel Good" and Lubov and Dylan's second # was "When You Say You Love Me" (exhibition version of FS). In Halifax, a trio from the Kentville Silver Gliders skated to "I Believe" by Nikki Yanofsky before the second set's opening group #.

In Ottawa a young woman from the Minto Skating Club was also invited to skate before the beginning of the second half.

Just got back from the Toronto show. I thought the show was a bit disjointed this year in terms of the music selections and how everything was put together. The voiceovers were obviously pushing very hard for the overarching theme of "Dreams" to be understood, but I didn't really feel any of the big or smaller group pieces had much to do with the theme.
V&M were guests at our show and were rapturously received. They skated an exhib version of their Prince FD - it was the same opening of the SD version through to "Kiss", and then the rest of it was a longer cut of "Purple Rain". There was an entirely new section with some recycled lifts from their FD and then they ended with the section of "Purple Rain" from the SD from twizzles until ending pose. Costumes and hairstyles were the same as the SD.
I really missed having V&M in the group numbers - Tessa's natural rhythm and musicality always stands out in the group choreography.
Kurt was amazing as usual, complete with back flip in the closing number.
I liked Elvis's program in the second act a lot more than his program in the first act - the first act was pretty much slowly skate to one end of the rink, pose or do a jump, and then slowly skate to the other end. There was much more attempt at content (footwork, low-to-the-ice hydroblade-style work, etc.) in the second number.
Jeff stuck to his recent pattern of one very club-dance type "funky" number and one slower, "artistic" program. I wish he had chosen another version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" for the latter, because the version he used was quite terrible.
Patrick was a joy to watch as always. I would easily pay money to watch a whole show of "Patrick Chan on Ice". I told my friend who came with me that, in the old words of the great ESTA, "I pray, [everyone else] misses [their] quod" in Pyeongchang so Patrick can have MIRAKEL and WIN OLYMPIKS.
Kaetlyn and Gabby were both having good jump nights. I liked one number much better than the other from both girls - Gabby's "Gold" in the second half was much better than the Demi Lovato number she skated in the first act (possibly because the music in the first number was so awful) and even though Kaetlyn's bratty schoolgirl act in her second number to Icona Pop's "I Love It" was kind of fun, I much preferred her lyrical "Hallelujah" in Act One.
As a side note, Kaetlyn was clearly being treated as the star female of the cast - she got all the ladies singles skater highlights in the group numbers and the mini numbers in between programs.
Meagan and Eric only skated one number, in the second act. The version of "We Can Be Heroes" that they skated to was a bit too dirge-y for my liking. They still didn't look 100% to me and I was thinking that maybe they would've been better off skipping the tour and healing fully from their injuries. Meagan has a new, shorter haircut. (At least it seemed like it to me?)
Luba and Dylan are not my cup of tea. It is my opinion (although I know many disagree with me) that they can only really skate in one style, and their attempt to skate to Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet" seemed to prove that to me - they were doing the same romantic looks and lyrical choreo to a sultry, blues-y song. The number also looked quite choppy and unpolished. I know it is brand new and they probably didn't have much time to prepare the new program, but... still. Their second number was an exhib version of their Josh Groban FD and I think I've made my opinion about that program quite clear here in the past.
A little girl from the Leaside Skating Club skated a short number at the end of intermission as part of the Lindt skating support thingy that Tessa and Scott have been involved with. She was cute, quite polished for such a young skater.
The opening announcement said that Seguin/Bilodeau were not skating due to injury. How many times can these two get injured?! Does anyone have further details? I was really looking forward to seeing them on this tour and was sad when I heard they'd w/d.

Interestingly, there was no announcement about Seguin-Bilodeau in Ottawa, as far as I know. My guess is that her recovery from the concussion was not compatible with the flashing lights used throughout the show. Kirsten M-T had a problem with them in the gala rehearsal at Canadians and had to withdraw from the actual gala.

Perfect way of describing Elvis' second skate. It was definitely high octane.
My husband (non skating fan) thought Kurt stole the show. We were sitting ice level and nothing gets the heart going than seeing a pair of blades coming towards you via Kurt's backflip.

Attended the Toronto show with 2 friends and as usual, we loved it!
Our seats were centre, on-ice (our one spoil of the year) but it will be the last time for that as the price for next year is going up $18 per seat to $173! Parking has gone up to $30 too.
The highlight of the show was definitely Kurt! His James Brown routine near the end of the show is completely brilliant ane his backup guys, Jeff and Dylan, were groovin...... I hope its on youtube because everyone should see it!
It was wonderful to see Kaetlyn and Gabby as world medalists; amazing how a medal can change your skating. So glad to see Osmond getting away from the tarty routines of past. I liked her first number better, and she even seemed to resemble Joannie at times.
Scott and Tessa were greeted so warmly you couldn't even hear the intro. I feel so lucky that I saw this Prince program before they retire it.
Pairs: so we had 2 teams. I did not enjoy Du/Rad because all I could think of was the back injury! They did not skate badly but I felt myself watching which moves could harm him. Love her haircut! I'm a big fan and I want them healthy! I loved seeing Dylan and Lubov! A bit rough at times but these two were having a great time cutting loose and you can see the joy they have in skating together. I hope they stick around longer after the Olympics. Dylan took up position in front of us and started chatting. Tight pants, tight sleeveless shirt and muscles bulging, woah is that a highlight or what? He told us he'd be doing some flirting with us.. OK BY ME!
Elvis: crowd went crazy for him. His routines were much better than last year but the 3 of us weren't feeling it. Maybe I've been around too long but I just don't feel he fits this show. I'd welcome back Shawn Sawyer any day.
Jeff: he's really enjoying choreography and is coming up with some interesting work. I find it mostly introspective stuff and I think you need the Kurt extroversion for balance.
Patrick: ohhhhhhhh.... What a joy to see him skate with such joy and abandon. I'll say it for the nth time - you really need to see him live! Just seeing him move on the ice is sheer art. Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that they'd love to see a Patrick show and I completely agree. He could alternate with Virtue and Moir in this show and it would be perfection.
Sound and lighting were terrible for this show. What happened? They changed the date because of the Raptors but I don't that should have mattered. You couldn't hear the voiceovers, or even Jeff doing his World Vision thing and Scott and Tessa doing the Lindt thing. Luckily we know the spiels but it must have been frustrating for first-timers.
So we'll be back next year but in different seats!
Our seats were centre, on-ice (our one spoil of the year) but it will be the last time for that as the price for next year is going up $18 per seat to $173! Parking has gone up to $30 too.
The highlight of the show was definitely Kurt! His James Brown routine near the end of the show is completely brilliant ane his backup guys, Jeff and Dylan, were groovin...... I hope its on youtube because everyone should see it!

Still at Hamilton show. It's being taped for CBC. They're doing do overs. Elvis took a nasty fall, hit his head.
Otherwise, great show.
Home now, so glad I went, thoroughly enjoyed the skating, Patrick seemed to channel his inner Kurt, with a hat it's hard to tell the difference. On a personal note, it's a weird feeling for me to have to view skating for the first time through glasses.
