Startlists and Results
Men's marathon has just begun. Final session later on today.
There's a Jhon Lennon Cassallo, Coolboy Ngamole and two Aleksey Sokolovs running in the marathon.
Abel Kirui blows the field apart. Second place also to Kenya and third to Ethiopia.
Tiny Jamaica is 4th on the medal table!
That's not much of a surprise.
False start in 4x100 heat and China get disqualified!
Drug cheat Lysenko first in hammer throw. Yuck.
I love Kenyan national anthem.
The kiwi dropped off and bye bye Irish man.
Great end to that race.
Love the Union Jack that says "FlyMo".
Phillips Idowu pushed down into second by that jump by Christian Taylor! Holy crap!
Good 800m. The Russian certainly deserved that win. Everyone showed great sportsmanship. And I wish commentators would get over Semenya. The controversy is done for. Stop worrying about it.
Thank goodness Mo won because Idowu has no chance after that monster jump by Taylor!!
WR for Jamaica in 4x100. GB and US drop the baton.
Brits bodychecked US to knock them out.
OMG Brit guy tripped up Darvis Patten Talk about to finish the championships!!
Now its London 2012 I guess.
Noooo, it is finished.
I've never heard the phrase "hard lines" before the Channel 4 trackside person has been repeating it all week.
Not surprisingly the US come out on top of the medal table. Great champs for Kenya, good for Russia, pretty disappointing for Ethiopia. GB get their medal target and will hope to do better next year.
Final medal table:
Jamaica ran a great race and broke the world record even with Bolt running the last 100m practically alone. It looks like they would have won anyway. Pity that their victory is somewhat tainted by the fall.
The French cannot believe they have the silver!
There have been plenty of talking points and lots of along the way but I've thoroughly enjoyed the championships. So many great competitions outweighing some disappointments. Didn't turn out too bad for GB but they could have done so much better. They made their medal target though.
i don't think jamaican win is tainted at all, there is no way us could have come anyway close to jamaican team. Sure they would have won the silver and pushed French to third spot. With Jimmy Vicut and Lemaitre, French spriting is in safe hands.
to the youngin's of Team USA! Taylor, Richardson, Centrowitz, Williams, et al, fabulous job!
And WELL DONE to Team GB on reaching their medal goal! Hardcore Anglophile that I am, would *love* to see them next year!
Anybody looking for a post Worlds athletics fix with access to BBC2 can get a fix with the Weltklasse Diamond League meet in Zurich this evening. Kicks off at 19:00.
How is the win tainted. Bolt took the baton with the lead and it wasnt even Tyson Gay getting the baton just behind him. There is more chance of a pink pig landing from the sky on the track than Jamaica losing at that point.
