Okay this is kind of silly, but I am enjoying Trollhunters. After the first couple of episodes, it's pretty good for a middle grade animated show. Probably the best "cartoon" i've seen in a long time.

We loved it. My husband and I thought it was was very funny and poignant. It was highly entertaining. I hope there's another season.

Netflix choosing to launch a sitcom named (and based on) One Day At A Time may seem unusual, but as it turns out, the feel of the dialogue on the "reboot" has some noted similarities with the conversations (read: arguments) Ann Romano had with Julie and Barbara Cooper in the 1970/80s original. Rita Moreno as grandmother adds a multi-generational dimension the original did not.

Having watched the full first season of One Day At A Time, I must correct myself, that in fact there was a grandmother character in the 1970s/80s version of One Day At A Time (Nanette Fabray, though she was only a recurring character in the latter 5 seasons).

One Day At A Time demonstrates that a commercial-free 30 minute sitcom can unravel very differently from the traditional "22 minute with commercial breaks" sitcom. The key is Justina Machado (matriarch Penelope) and Rita Moreno (grandmother Lydia)'s ability to adjust between the comedy and dramatic shifts (abrupt or gradual) rather seamlessly.

Regarding Trollhunters - we finished the series and my daughter looked it up to see about season 2. The voice actor for the lead was Anton Yelchin. We both got very tearful and said prayer for his parents. She has skated at their rink a few times.

Finished watching season one of Colony and just felt bored and restless for it to end already. I was not impressed and care little for any of the characters. Tried to watch OA and could not get through the first episode. LOL

OA filled me with inertia in the first episode as well. Bailed when she was out on the street talking to mom, who cares already?!?

Has anyone seen "Sneaky Pete"? Yea or nay?

Have enjoyed quite a few movies/TV series on Netflix.ca in the last few weeks: Uncle; One Day at at Time; Gods of Wheat Street; Call My Agent (French with English subtitles); Life Unexpected; Episodes (all series). For movies: The Way Way Back; Lady in the Van; and Waffle Street.

@Tesla, I thought it was very well done. Good actors, elegantly filmed, and entertaining. And, of course, Camille Cottin. Also, Ophelia Kolb. And some wonderful roles for older women, much in the French style.

Have just signed up to Netflix and instantly have really liked what I have seen.

Started watching Making a Murderer. Only 3 episodes in but engrossed. I wasn't sure how they could get a 10 episode season out of it but it really works. And doesn't need a voice over to tell the story.

Also I watched the first 3 episodes of Drew Barrymore's new series Santa Carlita Diet. I am not a big zombie fan and I am not quite sure what to think of it. They tend to gloss over some things that I would like to know. But I really do like Drew, Timothy Oliphant and Liv Hewson who plays the daughter. So I will keep watching it.

The OA is one of the weirdest things I've ever watched. I still don't know what really happened??

I watched it over a weekend and stuck with it mainly because I was sick and taking cold medicine. The end was so bizarre.

I just started watching This is Us and my God is Mandy Moore beautiful. I never realized how beautiful she was until now. Randall and his entire family are also incredibly beautiful as well. Kate could also really sing, and I love her character...so far (I'm on episode 3). On another shallow note, Kevin is hot too.

The worst thing about Kate's character is Toby. He's so annoying, and she should know that.

I saw an interview where Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate, said she wanted Mandy to go on tour so she could be her opening act. I think Chrissy was kidding, but she does want to record some music. Mandy hasn't recorded in quite some time, but she says she's got a lot of material. Maybe they can record a song together for the show. Or, since Mandy probably wrote some sad breakup songs after her divorce from Ryan Adams, maybe Kate can break up with Toby and sing one of those. ;)

George Gently is back with another season but it's on Acorn (a channel for British TV shows), which can you get via Amazon. Good news: the 1-week free trial is just long enough to see the new season (five episodes). Supposedly there will be one more, final season after this.

Ooo, I hope it comes to Netflix soon, though I do want Acorn. :p How was it?

It's as wonderful as ever although Gently himself is not quite as prominent. The character of Rachel, the talented young constable, is more prominent, and John, Gently's sergeant, continues to be both an idiot and a rising talent. The first episode is called Gently with the Women and in it the department starts addressing rape accusations seriously for the first time.

I adore this show. Gently is my hero. John and Rachel are gems too, both as acted and as written.

I love Gently, too. Rachel is pretty cool but John can be too much of a dumbass. He has his moments, though.
That's what makes him such a great character. He pushes the limits of awfulness so you wonder how the devil does Gently put up with him, then he is humbled and learns a lesson and shows some decency, and you (I) have to forgive him. And the father-son relationship between them kills me, it is so touching.

Rachel just gets better and better!
