I suppose you mean for only, at most, a dozen years because prior to that a champion had to have remarkable control of one's blades as a prerequisite to be in a running for a championship.
I don't disagree with you. However, Yuna actually scrubbing the ice with a nylon brush would have been less of a fight with the ice than Sotnikova at her finest in skates, which was, of course, there.
Sotnikova, at her best, looked like she was fighting the ice in a stylized manner. The revolutions in her jumps and spins were more of a relief to the eyes from watching her stroking than actually appealing.
DL apparently can't appreciate that Disney makes opportunities for skaters to make a living skating in a way similar to how Disney makes opportunities for live performers to make a living doing live performing.
