What a fantastic lineup of skaters! I'm especially pleased to see Kanon Smith and Joseph Klein competing (for the first time this season AFAIK).

Details are up now…WOW at the line-up of 25 Sr Women set to skate SPs. Lots of familiar names, not just Starr Andrews (skates 22nd out of 25)! Hmm…I may avail myself of the live$tream.

Frau, too bad you can't attend...it's lots of fun and only $10!

Looks like it was a great skate by Elyce Lin-Gracey in junior ladies, including a 3z-3t combo in I think the second half of the program. I've only seen her compete a few times but this is the first time I've heard of her doing a 3-3.

Looking forward to seeing her on the JGP :)

Cleo Park (158.18) won Novice group B (group A is underway now) and scored 106+ in the FS! Link to her protocol: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/SEGM004.html
She landed 6 triples (2 were called 'q'), including 3Lz+2T and 3Lo+2A+2A in 2nd half that has a base value of 12.65 (scored 13.53 points).

Junior Men SP results: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/CAT013SEG010.html
Top 3:
Daniil Murzin 69.98 (he's Russian & coached by Laura Lipetsky) - 3A<, 3F+3T, 3Lo
Michael Xie 67.92 (also coached by Lipetsky) - 3A fall, 3Lz+3T, 3Lo

Stephen Gogolev (couldn't hear his medley of songs) - jumps looked good! 4S, 3A & 4T+2T to win the Senior Men's SP easily with a score of 88.68 - protocols will be linked on the results page: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/CAT050SEG012.html

ETA link to the protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/SEGM012.html

ETA #2 - Gogolev's SP video, linked below in post #16, identifies his music as "Dream State" by Son Lux.

Joseph Klein's SP music is "I Hear a Symphony" by Cody Fry (Chock/Bates' EX) and suits his expressive, lyrical style of skating, IMO.

Awww…Starr in 4th…Clare Seo 13th (a fall; invalid combo?).

On the other hand, Alena Budko and Hanna Harrell in 1st & 2nd, respectively. Very close at the top:

Only 22 of the originally-listed 25 women competed. I wonder if there will be more withdrawals before the free skate?

Tomoki Hiwatashi kept his FS to The Artist soundtrack and had a much better day today! :) He landed (ETA the calls from his protocol sheet) 4S<, 4T+3T, 3A, 4Tq, 1A, 3Lz+1Eu+3F, 3Lo(I think)+2A, and his ending choreo. footwork sequence to happy music featured his trademark cantilever & big Russian split jump - 153.35 in FS, 215.96 total.

Is the Audrey Park in Novice pairs related to Cleo and Nicole Park? She’s got nice lines, I enjoyed them even though they look new. How old is she?

I don't think so because the Park sisters represent Glacier Falls FSC and Audrey reps All Year FSC. Carter Griffin is an experienced pair skater for his age and that's always a big advantage when it comes to new partnerships.

Ellie Korytek/Timmy Chapman looked quite good in their debut here, scoring 142.63 (89.38 FS): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/CAT014SEG020.html
It's too bad he has aged out of ISU Junior.

Baram/Tioumentsev did well enough in their Senior domestic debut, scoring 179.64 total (115.98 FS) as the only team: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/CAT051SEG018.html
Their sbs planned jumps were 3S+1Eu+2?S (couldn't tell if he went for the second 3S) and 3T and she rotated the throw 3Lo in the air but couldn't hold the landing.

Withdrawn from the Senior Women's FS - Starr Andrews (my hearsay info was that she planned to do SP only), Cate Fleming, and Angel Li (CHN) - live results page: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/CAT052SEG022.html

Senior Women final standings/link to protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30629/CAT052SEG022.html

Top 6:
GOLD Sonja Hilmer, Centennial SC 54.44 (6) 123.28 (1) 177.72 - new personal bests (FS & total) :cheer: and her final jump combo was 3S to reverse 2S - very  to see! She kept her self-choreographed program & dramatic/dark music from last season - Champion Theme of Viego, The Ruined King from League of Legends made by Riot Games
SILVER Hanna Harrell, Los Angeles FSC 60.88 (2) 112.69 (3) 173.57
BRONZE Alena Budko, Winterhawks FSC 61.15 (1) 100.62 (6) 161.77
4 Clare Seo, Broadmoor SC 47.30 (13) 112.74 (2) 160.04
5 Nicole Park, Glacier Falls FSC 49.09 (12) 102.53 (4) 151.62
6 Michelle Lee, All Year FSC 45.63 (14) 100.79 (5) 146.42 - landed her first 4 triples, incl. 3Lz+2T, in her FS to Twilight and was the second happiest skater (after Sonja) when she finished :)

Josephine Lee was announced as WD right before she was supposed to skate (UPDATE: I was told she skated the 6-min. warm up and "looked great" before suddenly withdrawing... hope she's OK!).

ETA from the 2022 Peggy Fleming Trophy thread (where her 3S to reverse/clockwise 2S was performed a bit better than tonight):
Sonja Hilmer posted a clip of her cool 3S to reverse 2S (it's after the 3 photos): https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfap89CuBLK/

ETA from the 2022 Peggy Fleming Trophy thread (where her 3S to reverse/clockwise 2S was performed a bit better than tonight):
The 3s to 2s was really cool! I was wondering if it was going to count as a combo, as I thought you couldn’t have a change of edge on the landing (of course we have seen plenty of people do a power pull type move to get into the triple toe on the end of the landing) but I haven’t read the rules well enough recently enough to know. And it went right into the Choreo sequence where you can have double jumps (there was a pair team that one partner did it last year) so I was wondering if it was part of the choreo sequence. But it got credit, so that’s an awesome combo! She has many neat elements in both programs. The most amazing thing I saw was she does a spin in both directions and both directions are very good! I was glad to hear clapping for it, it was clearly a knowledgeable audience, as it often is at summer comps.
Hanna Harrell looked better than last year I thought. I enjoyed her short program a lot. There were definitely 5 people out on the last warm up and only 4 competed, so Josephine Lee must have warmed up. I hope she’s okay.
After watching a few summer comps, I am more convinced than I was earlier this summer that using summer/early fall competitions as qualifiers to sectionals is a terrible idea. These competitions are filled with lots of falls and very new programs and people not at peak competition form. I hope they go back to how they qualified people last year or Move the competitions to September and a October. The Senior Men were 😬, I was seriously worried one of them would get hurt! All that said, I feel like the scores are higher than summer competitions last year. I know they changed the components but For what I was watching, I was kind of surprised by the scores.
