All of the pairs were terrible and didn't want to win, so I don't think P/K were bribed. They just didn't want to be associated with the others. :slinkaway
Thanks to this mess Kudriavtsteva/Spiridonov lost one spot and are down to #5 in line now :drama:

** estimated 'bye' if healthy

I wonder if they're going to try for Nationals. From the look of their Instagram accounts, I don't think they've been in the same country since this summer. Aleksandr can only skate if/when he gets permission from his doctor, so I don't know if he's even practiced at all.

I don’t see it coming too 😢
But yeah, who knows, thus the ‚if‘.

My guess is that probably Balabanova/Sviatchenko and maybe Sobinina/Volodin are in from either Z/E not taking their bye or a junior team deciding not to do seniors. K/I could probably talk their way into a bye for junior nationals due to their junior worlds medals if they wanted to, but their whole season might just be a scratch.

I agree with you though. RusFed needs to add another group for pairs. :mitchell:

They have only themselves to blame. Not being able to land triple throw, I don’t think they belong at the senior nationals.

If he has heart problems, it is a bit silly to risk it. Besides, I think last worlds they achieved their maximum, so why not to leave when they were on top.

6 triple throws at russian cup; they fell on 3.
I don't know where you get your numbers.

Ok, you made me do it.

1st Russian cup:
SP - landed 3Lo throw clean
FS - 3Lz throw fall, 3 Lo throw fall

Denis Ten memorial
SP - landed 3 Lo with problems. No fall and didn’t double, but negative GOE
FS - doubled both Lutz and Loop throws

4th Russian cup
SP - landed with problems, negative GOE but didn’t fall and didn’t double
FS - 3F throw fall, 3 Lo throw landed

So they did three competitions this season. Out of 9 throw they managed to land:
only 2 clean triple throws
2 triple throws landed with hands down/step out/double footed or similar problems
3 falls
2 doubled

That’s not a very high success rate for a senior team, wouldn’t you say? That’s still more not landed than landed.

Stats post
Your quote was 'not being able to land a triple throw', thus my reply.
They did land 3/6 in the ones counting for nationals (what matters here); not pretty as you mentioned, but landed.
We have similar statistics for sbs jumps of pair girls or boys.

Each to their own; for me they for sure belong more in than Belova/Chigirev, to whom my actual post referred to.

Nontheless, this was my last post on this matter. If somehow we get 16 teams and they might sneak im, I am happy, if not, it's of course their fault, still I am sad.

Well, Belova/ Chigiriev managed to win one of their event. Kudriavtseva/Spiridonov have only two bronze medals. I agree this wasn’t a very strong event, but then again, the first Russian cup 1 wasn’t a strong event either. If Kudriavtseva/Spiridonov managed to beat Balabanova/Sviatchenko in their first Russian cup event, they would have higher placement for the nationals than Belova/Chigiriev. It was not an impossible task, B/S were a very new pair at that point, Balabanova hasn’t been doing pairs that long. K/S were higher than B/S after the SP. The falls on both triple throws in the FS in that event cost them their place at the nationals.

Gubanova :kickass: But, she needs a better costume for her free skate. It is not flattering. I'd put her in a dark catsuit for that skate as it would really show off her extension and lines.

Sobinina/Volodin beat Efimova/Korovin in the LP (and overall). Neither team are super consistent, but not a great message for E/K going into Nationals. I wish S/V had gotten more international opportunities to see how they really stack against other teams.

I expect Efimova/Korovin to keep dropping down in standings. every year more juniors pairs are moving to seniors, and E/K won’t be able to beat them. In the last two years it was Boikova/Kozlovski, Mishina/Galliamov and Pavliuschenko/Khodykin who overtook them, and after this season there is a few more pairs who are moving up and who have the jumps. I am pretty sure Balabanova/Sviatchenko will beat E/K without any problem, Sobinina/Volodin only if they are on (they have been a bit inconsistent and skating as badly their SP as they did at this last competition could put them last at the nationals). If Kostiukovich/Ialin resolved their jump issues, they should be able to beat Efimova/Korovin too.

I think Vasilyeva is the one I liked on the JGP series, but there are so many good Russian ladies that it is hard to be sure these days!
