Mishin will certainly not fight to help Nugumanova. He kicked her out of his school and ensured she couldn’t compete at the nationals, even though she qualified. ( was is a year ago or two years ago?)
Wow! interesting... Well, i sure am glad that it is the Loved By All Perfect Mishin that did that.. had it been "evil Eteri" surely there would be an international demand for her beheading..

On the other hand, i am sure glad to hear that Mishin "politics"... he'll need those skills when Tarasova will try to put Medvedeva on the world team instead of Samodurova, even if Samodurova beats Med at Russian Nationals... :D

Perfect timing for me to go through the Russian Cups thread right after the Nationals :p.

But at least I know that:
a) Ogoreltseva is still skating!
b) so are Lukashevich/Stepanov
c) Makar Ignatov is back
d) but Fedichkina, Pogo and Radio are not :( (Radio's sp at one of these early events, yikes!)

Btw, what ever happened to the Abba girl (i.e. Valeriia Mikhailova)? Injury? Switching to another country? Any other reasons she has been invisible this season so far?

Good question - her last recorded competition was the Final of the Russian Cup last year: http://www.fskate.ru/skaters/2736.html
@Ka3sha, do you know anything?

Am also super happy for Gumennik, who landed two quad Salchows for the first time :cheer2:
Petr's FS from Russian Cup iV in early November: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvgzRv8UGE4

This year's RC Final in Velikiy Novgorod, February 18-22, 2019.

It was in 2016, and in 2017 she had a new coach. I searched old forum chats on russian sites and learned that: Nugumanova had conflicts with Mishin. He complained that she is not practicing hard enough, not listening, not training according to instructions (too few jump practicing), and taking too many beach vacations before important events. Then her parents got involved and had a conflict with Mishin. Once the situation became acute, Nugumanova was rude to Mishin, talking back, and saying things behind his back and acting like a "big shot" without being one yet. So yes, he kicked her out, with comments to the Federation. She was excluded from Nationals, based on legal/procedural technicalities (not randomly on a whim), but it would not have happened if she did not switch coaches in the middle of a season.

However, her regular coach was his wife, Tatian Mishina, and later on she and Nugumanova made peace. But who knows where it is at now...

I am looking forward to this event! It includes many girls (from all top coaches) who will take the next year's top Junior spots after Tru-Shcher-Kost move to seniors.

Just watched a couple of girls from the live feed. I think they're juniors, I have no idea who they are, and I want any/all of them to move to the US.

I've been ready to adopt a Russian skater for years. But, given the state of the rest of Europe's ladies, (well Italy has some promising juniors), they could spread out over Europe and all of them get to the Olympics.

Trusova needs to work on her SP over the summer before heading into seniors. She's got the goods in the LP, but having to depend on that gives results aka Kihira if others skate well and you falter on your money jump. It's far better to have a little cushion after the short so you don't have to freak out about the free skate. IMHO, that played a big role in Zag's win. She had an 8 point lead and that helps you not get in your head. I see this with students who determine they have to make some score in order to pass and they psych themselves out.

The Triple As are all so different with different strengths even training with the same coaches.

She is already backloading 3lutz-3loop. Quads aren't allowed in the SP, so the only way to get a higher base value would be to learn a 3a. Her program is more difficult than Alina's. Her score will go up as she continues to improve on her basics and (since this is skating) build her reputation in seniors.

She also needs to work on her polish and her spins. She lost GOE (and bonus, since we’re in Russia) on those vs Shcherbakova.
