A Test skate to choose Kyoto Prefecture representatives to Japan Junior High Championships was held on 19th November at Kinoshita Academy skate rink. Junior High Championships has, IIRC, three skaters from each prefecture. There are over one hundred competitors of which only the top 18 advance to the free skate.
Kyoto Test Skate (Free Skate only) concluded as follows
1. Mao Shimada 132.66 (Clean 3A but 4T< Fall)
2. Ayumi Shibayama 121.55 Clean Protocol!
3. Haruka Murakami 111.18 (3Sq+3T)
4. Ikura Kushida 106.44 (3Fq+3T< Fall, 3Loq+2T+2Lo)
This event only had 10 competitors, and it is a "Local" competition, but Kyoto local junior women events may be more difficult to podium than some JGPS. Top six were all Kinoshita Academy skaters, apparently using this event as a warm-up for the Japan Junior Championships.

Japanese Inter-collegiate Competiton (Free skating only) will be held in Tomakomai Hokkaido, on 5-7 January.
36 Skaters are slated to compete. Some of the entered skaters just competed in Japan Nationals.
Notable entries in reverse order of Nationals placements are;
DNQ Tomoe Kawabata (Waseda U)
25 Ibuki Sato (Meiji U)
22 Maria Egawa (Meiji U)
19 Yuhana Yokoi (Chukyo U)
16 Mako Yamashita (Chukyo U)
15 Saki Miyake (Okayama Science U)
14 Rion Sumiyoshi (Meiji U)
12 Rinka Watanabe (Hosei U)
7 Yuna Aoki (Nihon U)
1 Kaori Sakamoto (Kobe Gakuin U)
Since Mai Mihara is now in Graduate School, she may not qualify under Inter-collegiate rules.
Since Kaori and Rion (alongwith Mai) are to take part in Universiade, only one week later, some fans here are wondering if they are competing too much. It is noted that Kaori won this event (abridged to Free skate only due to extreme cold wave) last year.

🥉Tatsuya Tsuboi 150.10
4 Nozomu Yoshioka 142.53
5 Takumi Sugiyama 134.97

The team win went to Meiji University.

FS protocols: https://www.jsfresults.com/National/2022-2023/fs_j/intercollegiate/data0105.pdf

ETA:

7 Kosho Oshima 132.34
8 Kazuki Hasegawa 131.79
9 Taichiro Yamakuma 131.04 (his final competition)

Articles on the men's medalists:

Shun Sato:
Shun Sato (18 = Meiji University), who finished 4th at the All Japan Championship last December, won the individual championship. He successfully landed a quadruple Lutz and scored 181.28 points, 18.41 points behind second place.
The foundation for a good performance was the 6-minute practice just before. He tried the quad Lutz for the first time this year and felt good.
I decided to incorporate it at the beginning of the performance in a hurry, and decided on a jump that would lead to 4.60 points in the performance score (GOE). "Usually I'm tense, but I was able to relax." With this momentum, he continued to succeed in consecutive toe loops of 4 to 3 rotations one after another.
Every time Sato jumped high, Meidai's teammates cheered.

Sumitada Moriguchi:
Sumitada Moriguchi (21 = Doshisha University), who won the pair championship and ranked 7th in men's singles at the All Japan Championship in December last year, came in 2nd place in the individual. He scored 162.87 points and fascinated the audience with his powerful performance.
A week and a half from All Japan, who showed off their passionate performance and were overjoyed with tears. "It's always been so fluffy(?), I can't forget it," said his excitement, while his performance in the northern land was still alive and well.
After deciding the first triple axel (three and a half rotations) - two toe loop consecutive jumps, in the second half he succeeded in three consecutive jumps of triple salchow - two and a half rotations - two and a half rotations. Even with a high jump and a stable landing, he completed 7 jumps without danger.
“We were able to finish without any major mistakes, and I think that will give us confidence.”
Tatsuya Tsuboi:
Tatsuya Tsuboi [20 = Kobe University], who won the bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in April last year, scored 150.10 points and finished in 3rd place.
Link in with a firm expression. In the second jump, he succeeded in a continuous jump of a 4-turn salchow and a 2-turn toe loop. However, he fell on the first quad salchow and the triple axel (three and a half turns) in the second half, and put both hands on his knees after the finish. "Axel didn't really get into it, and he surprised himself," he recalls with anguish.
A week and a half ago. Finished 9th at the All Japan Championships. He was so frustrated that he thought, "I didn't even feel like taking a break," and continued practicing even during the New Year holidays. On days when I couldn't use the rink, I made up for it by training on land.
The stage of the intercollegiate that was greeted while the condition was improving. Again, he was unable to make the most of his training.
"Because I've practiced well, I wonder if I'm on the defensive or I can't attack... I'm honest that I'm shrinking because I think 'just like I practiced.'"
How can I get the results in the actual production? Superimpose your current location on other skaters.
“As for the women, Sakamoto and Mihara are concentrating in the actual performance even in consecutive matches, and they are constantly giving good performances.”

ETA 3 articles:

Kaori Sakamoto wins two consecutive university intercollegiate championships:
From January onwards, the Winter World University Games (12-22, Lake Placid, USA) and the Winter National Athletic Meet (27-31, Aomori/Hachinohe) will be held, and this tournament is positioned as a "stopper" to discipline itself. On this day as well, I checked my current location, saying, "I'm full of jumps." Through the intercollegiate, he found improvement points, saying, "I want to improve my other expressiveness while stabilizing my jumps."
It was my first time skiing at Tomakomai. The night before, she enjoyed a Hokkaido dinner with Saki Miyake (20 = Okayama University of Science). “I ate scallops, salmon, seafood.
Rinka Watanabe:
Rinka Watanabe (20 = Hosei University), who won her first victory in the second round of the Grand Prix (GP) series this season, Skate Canada, finished second with a score of 129.97.
She fell on the opening triple axel (three and a half rotations), but after that she fixed a loop-toe loop consecutive three-rotation jump and recovered. However, after the performance, she explained with frustration, "I was going to go with a two-[3]axel configuration, but I failed, so I switched to loop-toe."
I can't help but think back to two weeks ago. Although she came in 4th place in the GP final, she finished 12th in the All Japan Championship.
"I was really, really disappointed."
After the short program, she cried in the coverage area.
Under such circumstances, his performance this season was evaluated, and she was selected to represent Japan in the Four Continents Championships (Colorado Springs, USA) in February and the World Championships (Saitama Super Arena) in March.
Although she was selected according to the selection criteria, something like confusion spread in her mind.
"No matter how much (the selection criteria) were met, for someone ranked 12th in the national team to go... (the people around me) were more confused than they were."
I wonder if it's okay with me It was the warm ale[?] that saved my wavering thoughts.
“There were more voices of support than I thought.”
If you think about it, this season, I was saved by the voices of the fans.
"I fell in love at first sight when I saw the performance of the GP series" "I got the energy to live"
Every time I received a message or letter, I was encouraged.

Saki Miyake:
Saki Miyake (=Okayama University of Science), who finished 15th at the All Japan Championship last December, scored 118.53 points to finish in 5th place.
The performance with a sense of stability shined. Calmly landed the opening triple flip and the second triple Lutz. I slid wide on the rink and stepped on my steps. "I'm glad I practiced," she said with a smile.
All Japan Short Program (SP) she finished 5th and was skating in the final group. However, in the free skate on the 24th, she dropped to 16th due to a jump mistake and a fall.
Her score did not improve, and she finished 15th overall. Before and after the free skate, the coach told me, ``Let's become a player worthy of the final group.'' There was also a men's free skate on the following day, the 25th, but I didn't watch the game and started practicing immediately.
“It was frustrating, but the season will continue.
After a week and a half of adjustment, I welcomed the intercollegiate. From the all-Japan free skate, she increased her score by nearly 10 points. "I'm the type to practice right away if I'm frustrated." The voice that confessed so brightly resounded in the coverage area.
In May of last year, she moved from Okayama to Kobe and studied under Sonoko Nakano, who coaches Kaori Sakamoto and Mai Mihara. With her solid growth in mind, her new year begins.
“This year, I want to improve my personal best every time I skate, not in my ranking.”
In order to make the vow a reality, I will devote myself to practice this year as well.

The Japanese Inter-high school Championships will take place 16-17 January 2023. This year's championships will only have 36 skaters in Women and 22 in Men, since the original host Gunma Prefecture declined (due to COVID situation), and neighboring Saitama Prefecture agreed to host smaller scale competition. This year, only top 18 Women and 12 Men is to advance to Free. In a normal year, around a hundred skaters compete in Women SP, divided into three groups.
Notable competitors in Women include;
Mone Chiba (Tohoku High)
Hana Yoshida (Chukyo U. Chukyo High)
Mana Kawabe (Ditto)
Rino Matsuike (Ditto)
Yurina Okuno (Komaba Gakuen High)
It is noted that Mao, Ami, Ayumi and Ikura will probably compete in Junior High Championships, later this year.
Edited to correct competition dates. Monday to Tuesday is rare, perhaps due to Saitama being a back-up venue.

10. Yuna Aoki 7,10 170.68 Kanagawa
1. Hyogo 2. Aichi 3. Tokyo 4. Aomori 5. Fukuoka 6. Kanagawa
Senior Men
A surprising return of "retired" skater at ninth place, and no, he did not contravene "Zayak" rule here.
1. Shun Sato 4,1 253.12 Saitama (Messed up SP but, Nailed 4Lz in the Free)
2. Sota Yamamoto 2.3 234.20 Aichi

Good for Nobunari. That's an impressive score for someone who hasn't skated competitively for quite a while!
