What is it??? His style (or "lack of"), his choreography (or "lack of"), his attitude, he's Russian, his mullet, his nose, or just because - well, he has beaten/could beat/would beat/will beat my beloved favourite skater?

His mullet.
Do Russian men have a thing for the American's mullet? Davidov had a mullet one year and so did the Russian pair dude that skate with his Japanese-now-Russian partner. The mullet is one American style that no one should ever try to emulate, LOL. |

Why is he so disliked??? It's simple. One time he tried to log in to FSU with a fake ID, and he got caught. The admins called him on it and suspended his account. He then went around spreading vicious rumors about them and even threw pirozhki at their houses!
![]() With that kind of behavior, why would he be liked around here? ![]() |

I don't care about his mullet or his nose. I do think he'd probably look better without the mullet though. No one looks good with one!
His style, can't stand it at all. Choreography, well I guess what he has passes for choreography. His attitude never bothered me until Rostelcom Cup, when he started jumping around on the ice like he'd just won the Olympics again. I mean, come on, it was one freakin' Grand Prix event! I also think he gets gifted in the PCS scores. As for him beating my favorite. I have the wonderful memory of my favorite beating him at the 2002 Olympics and many other times. ![]() |

His lack of taste, which shows itself in competitive programs, EX programs and often other aspects of life ( Marton; Eurovision performance etc). Great athlete, great showman, great competitor. But what he does artistically often seems banal or vulgar. Of course, taste is a personal opinion, but that's my reason. He had a lot of years to evolve and change, but has not done it, and it seems more important at 27 than at 17. Still, I do not "hate" him- I admire his guts, but I do not like to see him skate.
... just got all philosophical on what is taste... maybe "style" is the better word. Becasue I do not mean primness. Re-watched Galindo's 1996 performances last night and his "Rocky Horror" and was very moved. It all had style. Maybe " I do not like Evgeny's style" is simplest, after all ![]() Last edited by dinakt; 11-13-2009 at 11:26 PM.. |

it's the arrogance that his technical abilities are so great (which they are) that he doesn't even need to try to come up with choreography. Seeing that mess being rewarded with exorbitant PCS scores is just rude. He should be getting 2s and 3s for all PCS scores except skating skillz.
What's sad is that Plushy used to have decent performance skills when he was younger. When he started pushing the boundaries of technical content he dropped the artistic component completely.

I think genevieve's answer comes closest to how I feel. It is sooo frustrating to see someone who could actually be the best, most complete skater out there now just seeming to be too lazy to bother doing any more than the judges make him do and be so self satisfied with what he produces to boot.

Seconding what everyone else said.
I also blame him for being the basis for the rules that led to the current horrid state of footwork. To get a level 4 you have to spazz as much as possible without falling down and forget about speed and depth/security of edges ![]() |

And throw in his Bielman spin. I always thought it was stupid and then when I read that there are kids in kindergarten who can do it but can't do a waltz jump (I'm paraphrasing Lori Nichols here) - it seemed even more egregious. He can't win for losing with me. I don't like his empty programs but I can't stand it when he tries to perform either. |

I also hate that he always wears black and always skates to the same type of music. Part of the laziness.
I had no idea he'd ever logged in here. |

I really miss the old times (not just because Plushenko was better there)... Also the great rivalries where the skaters pushed it to the limits and now I sometimes have the feeling that the one who makes the less mistakes usually wins in mens. Back OT... I don't hate Plushenko but I think he was much better years ago when he actually had real choreography. |

I don't like his style, but I also think people are way too harsh on him. Plush is a great skater.

I like him and enjoy watching his jumps, but would prefer him not to win again. Also, I'm a bit worried that his presence at the Olympics will make the other men nervous and not skate their best a la 2006, that's not his fault, but I think perhaps without him we'd be more likely to see clean performances from the other men. I still think he's a great skater though and am blown away by that attempt at a 3-axel/quad combo he did in practice.

I've seen some beginner kids who can't do waltz jumps yet who can do shaky catch-foot spirals with their foot above the head, but not really Biellmann position. They can't really do basic spins either. And I have seen Biellmann spins, usually bad but one or two that were quite nice, from prepreliminary or good no-test skaters who can do waltz jumps and most single jumps just fine but can't do axels yet. |
