NaNoWriMo '09 - Who's writing?

Anyone else participating in NaNoWriMo this year? It's a non-profit event organized every November, with the goal of each person writing a novel no less than 50k in a month. I did it last year for the first time, and it was a BLAST...hard, but so fun and I can't wait to do it again this year.

It's kind of special this year because I'm doing a novel focusing on an Olympic-level figure skater. The plot has a fairly predictable ending (but I hope the middle makes up for it!) and I'm not a competitive skater myself, so I think the sport will take second spot to the actual character. But still, you can expect that I will be haunting this forum puh-lenty for the next two months, asking for advice and whatnot.

Who else is taking the plunge?

I've considered it every year. Maybe I'll actually do it this year. I do have an idea I could write. I'll need to think about it a little longer.

I'm intending to, but I don't know why I bother when I never get past a couple of thousand words.

Jodi, even if you write a couple of thousand and don't finish, it's all about getting writing - that couple of thousand may be enough to inspire you later on!

ME!!!

I managed to finish it on 2007

but 2008 I was just doing toooooo much stuff and hardly got to sit down for 30 minutes a day and only hit 11,000 words

I've been working on it since (rewrote the entire first portion) and it's now at around 17,000 words, I think. I'm planning to continue that same story but start from 0 word count. So I need to get to 67,000 or whatever I get to before the first day of November.

I'm excited! And of course, there's a skater in my book. Even though the book has nothing to do with skating.

MEEE!!!! I'm excited, and I have several ideas roiling round in my head. Not that any of them will come to close to 50K, but I look forward to it every year with the this is the year mantra.

Anyway, I just finished designing my temp cover for my NaNo novel, and I freakin' love it. I'm only sad that I won't be able to use it on my proof copy if/when I get it, because it's too small!
