I think this show had the full support from Kazakh government. Otherwise it must be difficult for Denis Ten himself to organize the cast. Skaters from all major skating powers are gathered except China. For Kazakhstan, China is a rival bidding for the 2022 Olympics. They probably wanted to appeal their skating fan bases to IOC and ISU, and it seems to be a success. Their chance of hosting the Olympics is getting better.

Alexei Yagudin and Brian Joubert stayed on in Kazakhstan following the shows, and Joubert and Ten have been teaching a master class in Almaty (I'm not sure if Yagudin is still there too).

I wouldn't read too much into the lack of Chinese skaters in the cast - I don't recall seeing them do a lot of shows outside China, regardless of location. I believe that Ten's show is sponsored by several government-affiliated bodies, but I don't see how inviting a bunch of skaters would help them make any inroads with the IOC.

So... Many people asked me what are these three musketeers doing in Kazakhstan? Here is the answer: they are here to help Figure Skating in my country. As I said 1xx times previously, the shows in Kazakhstan were charitable, thanks to our sponsors: city administration of Almaty, @kaspibank and EXPO-2017. That was my goal from the very beginning to create a project that will leave something for our young generation. We started by leaving unforgettable impressions after 3 successful ice shows. There our young skaters not only had a chance to experience one of the brightest ice shows but also to meet and to talk to their Idols during the show. Nowadays they are learning skating technique by legendary Alexei Yagudin and amazing Brian Joubert. This seminar was organized and sponsored by public foundation established by myself last year and its task is to create a training program for young skaters and their coaches for the whole year. This is a long-term project and there will be many more events to develop our beautiful sport in Kazakhstan throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who attended my shows. You've made a great input into Kazakhstani sport and also, to those who doesn't know - by attending the show in Astana you made it possible to help a boy whose name is Zhakypbai Nurtas, he is only 6 years old but already has cancer (brain-tumor 4th stage). Because of you he will be sent to Germany for an urgent surgery.
    A reply:
Dear Denis @tenis_den ! On behalf of Zhakypbai family I would like to thank you and your great friends for helping our boy!we are very proud of such an outstanding athlete and great men like you! Also we express our gratitude to all organizators and people who have attended your show. P.S. His name is Nursat) we understand that people get confused sometimes

What a wonderful time it was for our young skaters. Children learnt a lot from Alexei and Brian. They shared advice on and off ice and it was truly a priceless experience. We spent about 5 hours on ice everyday working hard but at the same time having fun and enjoying this special moment. The seminar has met all expectations and it was just a first step in my long-term strategy for figure skating development in Kazakhstan.

Thank you very much for sharing, Reut. It's always interesting to see what goes into a rehearsal. I enjoyed them all but especially the Finale rehearsals so I could hear the music again.

Thank you reut. You are the best.

    ETA:
I love this photo in which Mao and Daisuke are smiling together peacefully after finishing the wonderful tour(and also the tough Olympic season). Wish they'll enjoy their rest in the next season. http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/kazakhsta...7/4792f1e0.jpg

The photo is from a blog entry posted by a Japanese travel agent. It is said in the entry that Denis and his mom were very supportive for fans from Japan. Good job Denis and mom!

Thank you for the link, rosewood. I couldn't understand much (Google translate from Japanese to English is not doing the best job I'm afraid), but I understood that he was responsible for setting VIP places (and there were not that many in Astana) and that Japanese skaters came to the meeting he set with Denis(??)

I loved this photo of his from Kazakhstan:

Unfortunately I was too busy and didn't have the chance to travel out of the city, but I heard there are a lot of beautiful places around Almaty. Well, maybe next time.
