Ostrava sounds interesting (I luuurve the cheap Euros in Eastern Europe) but it's not the easiest place to get to. It's gonna require either a 3-hour train ride from Prague or a $$ domestic Czech flight.

Katowice in Poland seems to be closer (by map). I wonder whether there are ways to get from Katowice to Ostrava

The ISU will often place a championship event (usually the Europeans or 4CCs) at the location that is going to host the figure skating events at the upcoming Olympics.

I imagine that the admission to the Junior Worlds in Taipei City will be free admission for spectators, as I believe the 4CCs have been. They couldn't draw an audience even under those circumstances for the senior skaters, so the Junior Worlds events are going to look like practice sessions. I wonder when Oberstdorft will host it again?

From what I see, there are direct trains from Budapest and Vienna. Both work for me. Would prefer Vienna.

    Because they put in bids.
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

I liked Taipei when I was there.
Ostrava might be nice, too. Too bad Verner is not skating any more.

5 others, I know about Minsk only.

God thanks you are in the minority here against this decision. All others are welcomed. It´s looong history since we were last time hosting the Europeans (1999).

Sochi used the GPF as their test event but Vancouver + SLC were 4CC and Torino was Euros.

To the tune of Empty Chairs at Empty Tables from Les Miserables

    There's a place that's always bidding
It's a town with lots of clout
Empty stands with no one cheering
    Taipei City that's no doubt

Here they talked of bigger interest
And tv coverage for a price
When it came down to the wire
No one there 'cept on the ice

The attendance at 2014 Four Continents was okay (at least for the free skates) - tough to muster up enthusiasm without a contending homegrown skater (I believe that Chih-I Tsao will still train with Anthony Liu this season, so maybe there will be continued progress for him once he becomes full fledged senior (he turns 17 this year)).
