Australia would be great: it would inconvenience almost everyone equally, and it's about time.

ETA: Maybe this was the agreed-upon price for organizing 2011 Worlds.

Not enthused over this news. I take it they will get it anyway.

And the crowd support/lack thereof is the least of my concerns, to be frank...

As I'm going to Boston for 2016 Worlds, it's not like I was gonna go to 2017 Worlds. So, it might as well go to Sochi.

I wonder who will get 2018 Worlds. The Olympics will be in Asia (and so will 4CC, most likely). I can't see Japan wanting a post-Olympic Worlds again. Europe will get 2017 Worlds. Canada will avoid a post-Olympic Worlds at all costs. So, maybe Australia?

Australia has yet to host a Four Continents. Maybe Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) will bid for 2017 or 2018 Worlds?

I thought they started to dismantle the place immediately after Os?

If another city wants it, share it with someone else.

China will host Worlds in 2015. I can't see them getting it again 2-3 years later.

    Taiwan is not China.

    Worlds locations since 1994:

    Asia (Australia): 1994, (2000 originally Brisbane), 2002, 2007, (2011 originally Tokyo), 2014, 2015 (China for 1st time)

    North America: 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2016

    Europe: 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000 (moved from Australia to Nice, France), 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011 (moved from Japan to Moscow), 2012

I don't know about dismantling, but they are building a racetrack around it. I hope it's ready in good time - all must be nice and organised for when Dan comes to win.

In short: people don't want Worlds to go to Sochi because they're still whinging that Yuna wasn't good enough.
No, you clearly weren't there. Yes, I was. The crowd was beyond obnoxious, and yes, it included laughing at athletes. What the hell does Yuna have to do with this? Nothing.

Anyhow, if it's in Helsinki, wheeeee!! If it's in Sochi, at least the crowds will be 10000% better since it'll be a world figure championship.

Since that criticism, Russia still has the anti-gay law -- and Olys was followed by what is essentially an invasion of Ukraine. I hope that Worlds goes to Helsinki.
    Thank you.

I am bothered by the Russian takeover of the Crimea. If Russia continues to disrupt the Ukraine (and more?) should an International event be held in this venue? I ask because this is an active intervention.

China was physically in Tibet, and for a very LONG time before the Olympics, when they held the Games. And they're still there.

Bottom line: Future Worlds will be allotted to the countries that can afford to host them (how quickly can UAE be ready? ).

Refer to ISU Rule 137 H. Expenses, 9-16 ISU Championships (pages 137-140): http://static.isu.org/media/79153/20...egulations.pdf

And people had a big issue with it at the time and now. I'm sure people who are speaking against this for political reasons also feel the same way about the many human rights abuses (labor, environmental, privacy, etc.) that are currently occurring in China.
