    Oh, thankyou so much!

It is just so gorgeous! His every movement is polished and extended and careful. And that Ina Bauer into the skid spiral!

Lacey - The first time I saw it with the three jumps, I had a "Wait a second..." moment - I think it's about ten seconds too long to be a short program (rough count). But my initial thought was "wow, this would make a stunning SP to go with Schindler's List this season."

Back from Anaheim... very well skated show! I loved everyone. Great center ice fifth row seats - directly behind me was Drew Carey and Danica McKeller and their kids! It was better attended then it has been for the past few years - good to see that!

When Jeremy skates I am reminded that no one quite moves like him - really wonderful and hit a gorgeous triple axel. Jason's smile is second to none. LOVED Mirai - she was fab in both programs though she opened up on her flip in her On Golden Pond number, it still was a beautiful program. Josh was so smooth and elegant - so impressed w/him. I look forward to his future. Ashley nailed all her jumps then had a slight wobble on her end pose which she made fun of herself with in her bows which made the audience laugh. Kim and Brent were real crowd pleasers. Of course everyone loves Ryan's backflips and charisma. I liked Gracie's Chicago program which really suits her personality. Alissa's spins are still sublime, her jumps are more elusive but she did manage a triple in her second number. Polina skated very well - was so nice to see her. And of course Meryl and Charlie are the big stars with huge applause every time they are on the ice - their skating is so light and effortless over the ice... what a joy to see them skate This was my 20th SOI in a row... will put in the pre-order for number 21!

I just got home from SOI Anaheim, I was on the other side, fifth row center, saw Danica and Drew as well. Not much more to add to Love Skating's post, but I was happy to see Alissa's triple in the second program, especially since she barely managed an Axel in her first number. I went with my sister who knows nothing about skating, and doesn't watch the Olympics, and she LOVED Jason Brown! She thought he was adorable. D&W were wonderful of course, and Jeremy was really on. I usually don't like his skating when I've seen him live in competition, but he was fabulous tonight.

Meryl Davis tweeted "Backstage at @starsonice with some friends..." (group photo with DWTS' Drew Carey and Danica McKellar) last night: http://pic.twitter.com/ybKZ6PNwrp

    @DrewFromTV's tweets:
Just saw @starsonice in Anaheim. Amazing. Thanks @CharlieaWhite for the tix! And I met @GraceEGold! The whole cast was great!

@Meryl_Davis Great show! You guys are... ethereal on the ice. Couldn't believe it.

@Meryl_Davis PS: That guy with the hair is really holding you back
Jason Brown was excited to meet Drew Carey:
Ahhh! Backstage at the show tonight w/ the one & only @DrewFromTV! It was such an honor meeting u 2night! @starsonice http://pic.twitter.com/w2BJpAludR

Another SOI Anaheim attendee. I was sitting at the end, the side where the skaters some out. Such a great show! I'm still giddy with the post-show high!

Absolute favorite was Jeremy. Both of his programs = amazing. The choreography, the musicality, the way he moves, such an artist! So happy to see those programs live and to see him skate without the competition pressures. Also really loved Mirai, especially her Demons program. I love her pearl layback and the jumps she hit were done with such flow and ease. As everyone has been saying, I really hope she can put the expression she shows in SOI into her competitive programs. She really has that captivating "it" presence. Probably not the best thing to do right in the middle of her On Golden Pond program but cute how someone in the audience shouted something along the lines of, "We love you Mirari!" and someone else in the audience shouted, "We love you more!"

Kim and Brent skated gorgeous programs with lots of crowd pleasing (but sometimes scary!) moves. Ryan can dance! The crowd really loved his Wake Me Up program. Alissa just oozes grace and her spins are really something to see live, so fast and centered compared to other skaters. Jason was so much fun! His enthusiasm is infectious. Amazing Russian split jumps. New appreciation for Ashley. She really projects and performs, very steady and committed movement. Gracie and Polina were okay. Gracie seemed kind of stiff with her jumps. However, very glad to see both of them live. Josh was great! So many beautiful moves with the spread eagle and ina bauer and skid spiral. The guys' number was a highlight. The girls' number, while pretty, was kind of confusing. I guess they needed a slow number to contrast with the upbeat guys' number but the song is such a downer.

I was glad to see the lower bowl almost full except for those sections blocked by lighting/ TV screens. Good attendance. People were on the 2nd level and many people were even on the 3rd level way up at the ceiling. Very appreciative crowd with loud applause for everyone, especially in the second half. Meryl and Davis got absolutely thunderous applause, twice as loud as any other skater, and well deserved too! Such gorgeous skating and amazing representatives of ice dancing, skating, the US. So happy for them and the gold medal. Such a privilege to see all of these outstanding skaters live; they all really worked hard and put on a great show.

RD, LOL I even proofread the post twice. So much for my proofreading skills.

Sylvia, thank you for all of your super informative posts. I'm not on Twitter so it's helpful to see your skater tweet summaries.

YukiNieve, please tell Minori thank you for capturing these great performances on video!

Gorgeous videos for stunning performances - Abbott and Farris.

I do think Jeremy still has a lot to give to figure skating. Go Jeremy.

OK, a short program would be very effective too. GREAT IDEA misskarne.

It is rare when skaters' programs take my breath away, and that exhibition did, so make it real!

I'd like to see Josh Farris skate a short program in the style of "The Walker" group number!

I'd love to see Josh do a more upbeat number this season for his SP, but I could be persuaded to change my mind for this in competition format. It wouldn't even need all that much tweaking - add a spin here, a bit more footwork there.

Me too! I want to see him do a really comical goofball program. It'd be such a contrast to the serious LP and so much fun!

I went to the SOI show in San Jose on Sunday and the meet and greet as well. Here's a partial write up of my experience:

Overall, everyone did amazingly well. Jason Brown, Meryl and Charlie and Polina Edmunds got the most cheers. I was especially impressed with Mirai’s emotional skating and Ryan Bradley’s showmanship. The guys’ group number was super fun, too.

Afterwards, I went to the meet and greet and got a chance to speak with all of the skaters. A few tidbits:

    1. Polina Edmunds aunt mistook me for Alissa Czisny and chided me for hiding in a corner and then told me I skated beautifully. Later on when I spoke with Alissa, I told her and we had a laugh about it. I took it as a compliment - she’s gorgeous!

    2. I told Ryan Bradley that I followed him on twitter and had enjoyed his Olympic snark and he told me he actually got in trouble for it. He didn’t say much beyond that, but we had a bit of conversation about governing sports bodies.

    3. Mirai was incredibly sweet. I brought a little “Mirai” for her to sign on behalf of a friend of mine and she took the time to write out my friend's name fancy and posed with it.

    4. Jason Brown is the sweetest ever. I spoke with him twice and he gave me three hugs. He was giving everyone hugs! He’s like the real life version of Olaf. He also told me, “I’ll do whatever you want,” to which I said, “Oh really? I like that in a man,” which made him collapse onto the table giggling and blushing.

    5. And finally I met Meryl and Charlie! They are so very nice! I told them about how my friend and I watch DWTS each Monday and then talk about it on Tuesday, and how we were both hoping for them to be in the top 2, to which Meryl said, “We hope so too!” Charlie insisted on taking the selfie (said he was “an expert” at them), and they were just very generous and gracious and lovely.

Everyone was lovely! It was a great afternoon/evening, and I’m so happy I went to both the show and the meet and greet!

Here's the link to my tumblr post, which also has some pics (although not very exciting, admittedly!): http://immaculategiraffe.tumblr.com/...soi-show-and-i

Thanks, raineydaze, mkice9, love skating and operagirl for sharing your impressions from the Calif. shows!
