U.S. Olympic Committee announces inaugural Best of U.S. Awards Show, airing April 7 on NBCSN

Willie Geist named program host; Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski to host Team USA red carpet arrivals

Media credentialing now open for event taping on April 2 at Warner Theatre in Washington D.C.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – NBC’s Willie Geist will serve as host for the United States Olympic Committee’s inaugural Best of U.S. Awards Show supported by USG, which will honor outstanding U.S. performances from the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and air April 7 on NBCSN from 7-8 p.m. ET. In addition, figure skaters and commentators Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski will host red carpet coverage, as more than 200 members of Team USA arrive at the Warner Theatre for the live taping on April 2.

The winners of the Best of U.S. awards were determined via fan voting at www.Facebook.com/USOlympicTeam and www.Facebook.com/USParalympics. Winners in each of the 10 categories will be announced during the awards show, which will feature athlete and celebrity presenters.
    ...
Best Team of the Olympic Games
    Meryl Davis/Charlie White, Figure Skating
    Men’s USA-1, Bobsled (Fogt/Holcomb/Langton/Tomasevicz)
    Elana Meyers/Lauryn Williams, Bobsled
ETA that Davis/White are in Florida for SOI tour rehearsals this week, so if they win the "Best Team" award tomorrow maybe they'll accept via a live satellite feed from Florida?

Immediately following the Team USA Athlete Celebration, NBC’s Willie Geist will host the USOC’s inaugural Best of U.S. Awards Show supported by USG, which will honor outstanding U.S. performances from the Sochi Games. More than 1,000 members of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic family are expected to attend the live taping at Warner Theatre [on April 2nd].

More than 200 members of the 2014 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams are confirmed to attend the live taping, including Olympic nominees Sage Kotsenburg; Noelle Pikus-Pace; Mikaela Shiffrin; the USA-1 men’s bobsled team; and men’s slopestyle skiing podium sweepers Joss Christensen, Gus Kenworthy and Nick Goepper. Paralympic nominees who will be in attendance include Tatyana McFadden, Evan Strong and the entire gold-medal winning U.S. sled hockey team.

In total, 57 athletes earned nominations in eight award categories – including Best Male/Female Olympian, Best Male/Female Paralympian, Team of the Olympic/Paralympic Games and Moment of the Olympic/Paralympic Games. Additional categories include Fan of the Games and the USG Building Dreams Award, which honors an individual who has gone above and beyond in his/her support of Team USA athletes. Michelle Kwan and Evan Lysacek presented awards. Camera showed Marissa Castelli in the audience during the taped Colbert segment.

Waiting for D/W's award and their taped acceptance speech...

ETA: USG Building Dreams award fluff piece on Kori Ade & Jason Brown - interviewed on stage by Johnny Weir.

Enjoyed the show. Thought Steven Colbert was hilarious. My only beef, they kept showing Gracie Gold in clips. What is she, the designated skater? Would it have hurt to show one of the other 18?
