In the ceremony they had a short interview. Mao was asked about her retirement. Shame she's repeatedly asked about her retirement every time she appears in public. She answered that she needs enough time to consider, and she hopes people will be supportive and wait till she announces her decision. She's skated in shows 3-4 days a week since Worlds. She skates in shows 15 days(at 6 cities) in April. Wish Japanese media leaves her alone in May. Hanyu said he wants to break the record again by himself. And if his rivals break his record, he'll work hard to catch up with them and wants to improve through the rivalry.

TV Tokyo aired the recorded coverage of JSOI in Tokyo (evening show on 12th). It was about two hours long coverage. They showed some fluffs too. Shame they didn't show many international skaters. One of the reasons why they didn't show new programs of Canadian skaters might be they are planned to be shown on the coverage of Canadian SOI in their home country. I guess Japanese cable TV station will air longer coverage sooner or later and we'll see more videos of international skaters.

Programs in each show are listed here
    http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/soi2014/tokyo.html#turn

    ACT I
Cast “What Are You Going to Do When You Are Not Saving the World?”
    Nobunari Oda “Last Samurai" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJLxnKFKJ0Q
Cathy & Chris Reed “The Addams Family" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYk-DqXNcCU
    Akiko Suzuki “Hymne à l'amour” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGQOsesRY0c
    Group “Wonder”
    Javier Fernandez “Aerobic Number”
Maia & Alex Shibutani “Michael Jackson medley”
Kanako Murakami “King of Anything” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syJNu4GeNko
Tatsuki Machida “East of Eden” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vogCfwJTxs
    Yuka Sato “Clair de Lune”
Takahiko Kozuka “The Sounds of Silence”
    Shizuka Arakawa “Nella Fantasia” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrIBDdbXFf4
    Group “The Walker”

    ACT II
Japanese Group “Kazoku Ni Naroyo” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v17-DPSSRxk
Narumi Takahashi & Ryuichi Kihara “Fireflies” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIrAYmIw5f0
    Joannie Rochette “Shot Me Down”
    Jeffrey Buttle “Counting Stars”
    Carolina Kostner “Ave Maria”
Qing Pang & Jian Tong “I Dreamed a Dream”
Patrick Chan “Best of Me” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ5MiaDx03A
Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir “Into the Mystic”
    Adelina Sotnikova “Come Together” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApR_q26iKlw
Yuzuru Hanyu “Hana Ni Nare” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3iYgpfmVf4
    Mao Asada “Smile/What a Wonderful World” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILpI...fUueVYf4Xj0gEA
    Group “Don’t Stop Believin'”

    Fluffs
    SOI playbacks of Mao https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey7VIo3V17A
    SOI playbacks of Yuzuru https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjQeZcDXpks
    Talk: Mao & Akiko & Kanako https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5kX1JW7J4M
    Talk: Nobunari & Yuzuru https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wflc6gJgo2w

As for something new or different, I loved the Japanese group number. It is choreographed for JSOI only. Meaning of the title of the music "Kazoku ni naroyo" means ”Let's become a family." So touching thinking how tough time they've been through together in this Olympic season and also in this quad including the great disaster. Choreography of Machida's East of Eden had major changes from the competitive program and I love this ex version as well. Watching the coverage I was very much relieved since Shizuka didn't fall since she might not notice her pregnancy when it was recorded. I know I belong to the minority here but I loved Adelina's dancability to this difficult rhythm. Even Japanese applause machine gave up catching up to the rhythm. lol

As for talk videos, Mao & Akiko & Kanako talked about their thoughts on retirement, Nobu & Yuzuru talked mainly about jumps and competitions. If time allows, I'd love to translate and post somewhere on FSU.

Thank you for the information. I was waiting for the new programs from the Canadians. I guess I have to wait a little bit more. Since I no longer live in Chicago, I do not have the opportunities to see CSOI this year. (Toronto was a short flight from Chicago.)

^As long as I heard the evening show in Tokyo on April 12th is the only show which were recorded. Usually the coverage of the shows is to be aired on terrestrial broadcasting first. Then longer coverage comes on cable broadcasting. I haven't found any information about coverage on cable but I'm somewhat expecting that the programs of the skaters who were chacked on terrestrial would be shown.

^It's a good news. The sauce says it'll be "perfect version". So I assume all of the programs(done in the evening show on April 12th) will be shown.

I didn't think Machida could equal his East of Eden competitive program, but this exhibition version is as exquisite.

Thank you so much for the links, rosewood, and midori for the news that there should be more links after the full cable broadcast in May!

Prince Ice World shows in Shinyokohama started today. PIW Tour is the annual one. One can enjoy group numbers by Team Shinyokohama with Takeshi Honda, Yukina Ohta etc. It is also a specific show where the crowd can take photos, hand presents/letters/cards to skaters, and even chat a few words if you're lucky.(Usually people are not allowed taking photos in Japanese shows/competitions.)

I found nice photos of the skaters in Prince Ice World in Shinyokohama. Fans were allowed to take photos after finishing finale. Many thanks to twitter users.

Machida fascinated the crowd: 'Je te vuex' He was inspired by a photo.

    (my rough translation)

"Philosopher on ice" Machida's new exhibition number fascinated the crowd. April 26th Prince Ice World was held in Shinyokohama Skate Center. Mao Asada(23), Tatsuki Machida(26) and other skaters participated in the ice show. Machida revealed his self-choreographed new exhibition number 'Je te vuex'.

He was inspired by a photo taken by a French photographer. "I've been under a big pressure and felt almost reversing since three days ago," Machida was anxious about how his new program would be appreciated by the aucience. He created his own world and the crowd gave him big hands. "I feel better now since I was told it was good." he felt relieved. "I wanted to create a program one feels like seeing at a cafe," Asada listened to his enthusiastic explanation.

it's so funny to see how yukina ohta got herself in all those shows despite not really having a
long and succesfull senior career (i know 4cc win)
but it's great to see her always, she's one of all those lost and fallen talents.
    great to watch her skating

Since her skating, especially her artistry, was loved by many fans, she's been skating in many shows after her retirement. She's constantly skated in Prince Ice World, so she has core fans. I saw her skating live a few times and I could die for her layback spins and ina bauer. Also she's been commentating on TV. I guess she's still popular among Japanese figure skating fans. Her Japanese language has Kyoto accent and it sounds very soft and easy to ears.
